Focus Mid range

I find my 1.8 zetec fine for overtakes generally anywhere. Don't really overtake much though for some reason when in the car.

Never had any problems overtaking in my 1.6, just make sure you remember to drop it to 3rd.

The 1.6 is stupid slow for overtaking once you've driven a faster car. Been borrowing my dads Saab 93 Aero 2.8T V6 recently and it makes my car look like a motorised scooter :(

True, but it's perfectly safe for overtaking. You just need to be in the correct gear and think ahead.

I have a mk2, but it's more than adequate for overtaking :)

Not neccacarily relevant.. but my car is a lot fatter lol

IE - Duel Carriageway, doing 60.. in 5th I decide to overtake, 4th is more than adequate to overtake..

as an example my old 1.25 fiesta mk6.5 accellerated midrange similarly to a 1.6 Focus, must be due to gearing but the Focus was pants at overtaking on the motorway

overtaking on a dual isn't *really* overtaking though is it.

Never had trouble overtaking in my 1.6 Automatic, flooring it to kickdown works well. Have owned faster cars and agree its no race winner but it does the job :)

i remember trying to overtake 2 lorries on a country lane in my focus 1.6.. was very scary and felt like a lifetime. tdci and 2.0 mondy much better

What is the Mid range (overtaking) performance like on the Focus 1.8 Zetec Petrol Mark I? In comparison to smaller engined cars such as 1.2s etc.... Quite a stupid question, but do you Zetec owners find the mid range adequate for safe and fast overtaking manouvres? Thanks

Ive got one, and if you drop a gear and floor it it moves pretty niftily. Not in the hot-hatch level, but perfectly adequate.

A friend of mine (Z4 driver) borrowed it a few weeks back and said he was surpirsed at how nifty it is.
