Hi,

My spec is:

Q6600
Asus Maximus Formula SE x38
4x1GB of ballistix tracer 8500
700w seasonic psu

Basically I came home from work yesterday to see my computer frozen on the 'loading windows vista' splash screen. So I rebooted and then when it is loading vista is flashes a blue screen and then restarts. It never gets into windows.

So I entered setup and returned everything to default and then it boots into windows no problem.

The overclock I had was 333mhz fsb with 9x multiplier. memory at 1066 @2.12v 5-5-5-15 timings. PCI-e speed locked at 100. everything else was at auto.
I've had this overclock for a few months and have never had a problem. I've previously had the fsb at 400 with no problem, so am a bit miffed as to why the overclock is now causing a problem.

Maybe I need to manuallly set the cpu and north bridge voltage, as auto doesn't seem to be doing the trick? Or does the blue screen hint at a possible memory problem (which i am aware isnt unheard off with tracer's on maximus formula boards)?

Thanks

But its fine when everything is at default in the bios. At default the memory is 1066 and when the system is overclocked i set the memory to 1066. So the actual speed is not changing?

I guess I'll have to try taking two dimm's out, reapplying the oc and then test. See if it is the memory. But i have run orphos mem test and had no problems......

I'd still try memtest... Just see if there are any faults in the memory now, it's what can happen, even at default speeds.

Thanks people. Firstly i'll try manually setting the cpu voltage to ~1.4v. failing that i'll give the memory a thorough test.

Another question; what sort of voltage should i set the north bridge to? (running 4x1gb of 8500 tracer)
