Ok, I got an Ibanez Universe that I never play anymore, just prefer 6 strings now...

I'll probably ebay that or trade it in

Has anyone played one of the new Ibanez's with the Zeroedge?

I wouldn't get involved with Shredder if I were you, he's bad news.

I'm looking for a new guitar too.

I'm thinking of getting one of these...

Haven't tried one out yet (not sure where I could) but I've only heard positive things about Schecters. They do a version with a Floyd too.

I currently have a Maverick which I have to say I think is an amazing guitar for the price you can pick em up for on the bay (the company has unfortunately stopped producing, Ibanez (I think, possibly Jackson or someone else...) and co muscled them out trying to stop shops stocking both their guitars and Maverick's). Only thing I'd say about mine (which is a Species 1 by the way) is that it needs new pups. Neck is wonderful, beautiful low action :-)

I was having issues with the trem on one of my guitars (it's an old westone and the bridge is called a "Bendmaster" !!) so I went onto the bay and found myself a HipShot tremsetter for a few quid and now the bridge is so stable it's amazing. So even if the trem is bad it doesn't necessarily mean you can't do anything about it.

Looking forward to finishing exams so I have time to get to a few shops.

It will be the same, its a JT580 if memory serves..

Its garbage imo, no weight to it, thin, screw in arm, flutters dont sound good... just really dont like them, I have used them a lot over the years.

Nothing comes close it an Ibanez Edge/lo pro edge that I have used.

Thats why I'm interest in the new Ibanez one, none of the shops near me have them instock yet.

The Jackson DKMG trem was fine for me, putting it in context, had the guitar for about 2 years now, used the trem for < 1 hour combined play time ;).

I had a DXMG, sold it to my mate who changed the trem to an OFR, world of difference, much better tone, better sustain and stability.

They cost about £150 I think...

I have that guitar, but in black, and it's lovely. No complaints at all. Sounds, feels and looks great.

I got it for £250 off eBay though. £516 seems awfully expensive.

Really? Bit disappointed to read that you think £516 is expensive. Have kept an eye out for them on the bay but feel new would be nice. Was going to go to Sound Control after my exams but I hear they've gone under. Not sure where else stocks them.

There's one on the bay (#230254112227) in a lovely black cherry colour :) nice guitar btw.

I've got my eye on that one (and another one). Doubt I'll get it though... bid on over a dozen guitars recently and not won any :-(

Go on, educate me because I've got an old style collection of guitars
What exactly is a Shredder guitar?
In what music style?

Pretty much what cybermyk said: low action and thin neck being vital, with high output humbuckers.

Music genre? Heavy metal, (blisteringly fast solos).

Again, that's based on what comes to my mind when I hear the term.
