Go on, have your say - why me?

No offence to you, but I guess from reading past posts by you I already have a negative thought everytime I see a post or thread by you.

Strange, because I can't remember what it was from... yet it's definetely not friendliness I'm feeling.

I don't really understand why to be honest...

I vaguely remember something about this guy being a BNP supporter?

If that's the case then that would probably do it for most people, myself included. Either on the internet or in real life, lots of people would instantly dislike somefor for holding extremist views.

If I'm wrong and it's not you then ignore that.

I was (slightly) but I grew up.
I did go to meetings but on here many people caught me out because my views weren't very strong
eg I'd allow my girls to marry foreigners, I wouldn't export all immigrants etc.
I realised what a bunch of ***** they are and dismissed myself from them.
I blame myself for going out for a drink on a wednesday night with my mates and we always ended up at meetings.
I hang my head in shame but hopefully I've more than made up for it this last year with what I've done for BME's.

Ah ok, well fair play to you for making a good decision!

I haven't got any limited DVD's of anything and I only mention seeing bands when others have mentioned them.
I can't see a problem with somebody starting a thread 'Anybody else like Led Zeppelin?' and then I respond with 'I did see them 4 times in the 70's, I have loads of bootleg DVDs and countless albums' etc. I bet Big kev is thankful that I 'bragged' about seeing RUSH before him. I'll tell you why - he ended up getting a tour programme from the forst tour they did in this country. Another lad on here got a Bruce Springsteen one from 1980 and I gave a 1976 KISS one away too.

I never said that you weren't a decent bloke. I didn't even hint at that. You asked why some people were irritated by you, and I told you why I am periodically irritated by you. I can't possibly take into account the things that you've done for other people that I'm unaware of when deciding whether you're irritating or not, so why even bring it up? One thing I could say for you before this thread was that you don't seem like a cry-baby attention-seeker - now I don't think I can even say that.

Like I said before, you get on my nerves sometimes (not all the time), no amount of justifying why you say things, or saying why you don't think my reasons for finding you annoying are justified is going to change that so don't bother. I really don't understand why you care so much, to be honest. Like I said, I thought you were above all this "why don't people like me" crap, but this isn't the first time I've been wrong and I doubt it'll be the last.

It is a bit odd why you're so worried about what a few faceless forumites think...

I'd never say anything to dig at you but posts like

Of course.
I reach 50 next week and I'm going through the menopause.
I need to be loved.

I think it should be a poll.
I haven't really counted but I've got it has :

For : 123
Against : 10

just irritate me.

You just seem like you're desperate for internet friends, so much so you just come across in your posts as someone who is dying for attention and contact.

However I'm not one for giving touchy opinions, and I'm half tempted to delete this...

That's just my say anyway. I'm sure if I knew you better I might have a differen't view.

its starting to seem like he really does internet friends tbh, getting quite bored of it now.

Anyway, in 1 hour I take 25 x 16 year old girls down to London so if anyone wants to meet up at The Tower Of London this morning or Tutenkhamuns Exhibition this afternoon and console me, I'll be there.

I'm guessing 16 year olds are your thing, otherwise you would have said 'I'm with a group of people / kids this morning in 'location'...'

I really don't understand how this thread is still going, so pointless :/

Bit odd why you feel we need to know this little fact...

The thread should die, I think he's loving this limelight a little too much.

Close it before his 110 cheerleaders started to decline in numbers.

I thought you were above all this "why don't people like me" crap,

Have you not read my OP?
I don't give a damn if people don't like me.
This is what I said "People come on here all the time talking about their experiences or offering advise without any criticism but for some reason (and I know this is an age issue) when I post, some posters see it has me being a know all"
It would help if you read what I wrote.
Why did you have to change the whole meaning of my OP?

Bit odd why you feel we need to know this little fact...

Because I wouldn't be able to reply for hours and one email I got yesterday said "Come on ******* why havent you replied?

Wow it seems that people missed the irony of post #259.

:)

Well this thread has taught me a lot of how 'some' people see me on here and how they react when I post :

Sic :
He's cpmpletely changed my OP from one thing to 'why don't people like me?'

Fus:
Reads what he wants, takes one line out of a post and doesn't put it with the rest of the sentence.

There are more and I don't know if you are the saddo's that email me but a person who often misreads me is Neoni.
However, what I really respect about Neoni is that he reads me wrong loads of times, I put him right and just like me he apologises.
I tend to post quickly but I've lost count of the times I retract but there are also people who don't count a retract like Marky!.
'Oh no, I don't care what you said later, I'm taking your first statement as gospel'.

There was one guy on here who summed up how some members obviously think about my posts and he ended up getting perma-banned for it.
His name was Mr Bulbous and he totally refused to properly read anything I wrote.
He would also take a few words out of a paragraph and turn it against me.
Even when other posters tried to tell him his errors he would not listen because he had a vendetta against me.
It was quite sad to see somebody self destruct for no reason at all.
The ironic thing was he was the same age as me and experienced very similar rock concerts.
He even blew his top when he started a Phil Lynott thread and had a stinging attack because I hadn't contributed to it to tell him how wonderful his picture of Phil was

Just to re-iterate the point of this thread and then it can be closed.
Its got nothing to do with me being liked, I don't know you, I'll never meet you so your thoughts about me don't matter and I'll promise I won't lose sleep.
Its about how a very tiny minority look at my posts as bragging when all I'm doing is posting about my experiences.
1000's of other posters get away with it but these tiny minded individuals look at it like "Theres the old git, bragging again".

It happened again when I got up this morning.
I started a Tutankhamun thread and some saddo has sent an email telling me I'm bragging about going there :

"You sad little man do you ever stop bragging about what you get up to. Who gives a **** that you went there because we dont want to know"

Emails like that do have an impact on a person.

Anyway, close thread.

Well, if as you say, you are the only person who gets treats as badly as you say you do, I find it hard to believe that nothing you are doing is possibly wrong. Quite a few people have stated their reasoning in this thread, and I don't think it's because they don't read posts properly that problems arise.

I'm sorry but your post sounds horribly self-involved. There's no reason for posters to let "1000s" get away with it and suddenly turn against you in some vicious vendetta. If other posters did the same stuff that clearly irritates people, they would get called out for it too (especially as there are plenty of older posters on here who talk from "the old man's perspective", Big Kev frequently posts about his gigging past in the music forum, and yet doesn't get called out for it....there might be something in the difference between your posting styles perhaps?). Why wouldn't they? The only thing I'm surprised at is you being sent emails, but then...how do we know that other members don't have the same situation happening to them, except they are just less vocal about it?

Its alright, the people who are ones e-mailing you to abuse you over a post or two on an internet forum are the real sad *******s.

Sic: "You sad little man do you ever stop bragging about what you get up to. Who gives a **** that you went there because we dont want to know"

Pretty much like all the other eleventy billion posters on this forum then?

"Look at my 3x monitor setup"
"ZOMG, 4TB RAID ARRAY OF PRONZ!"
"Wahay, Crysis made my PC go nuclear"
"Look at my shiny new car"
and of course:
"I spent £575 on pizza and now I cant stop it coming out of my arse".

Edit: I've just realised that you are pizza man!

Exactly, I think that's precisely the point. So many other posters seem to do the same stuff but we don't have the same situation arise for them. It's my view that therefore that means there's something inherent in dmpoole's posting style that is irritating people. I don't see any truth in looking at the situation as some kind of behind closed-doors conspiracy, where some kind of mini forum coalition has formed purely to irritate a man in his 50s from Stoke-On-Trent. What on earth would be the incentive? Unless he individually irritated them all to the same degree and the effect was large enough to make people vocal about it, which appears to be the case. Sic and fus aren't stupid people, and they've been on the forums long enough to not be basing a view on entirely mis-read posts. It would be ridiculous to assume that every single person with a negative view of dmpoole is just mis-reading his posts.
