Nissan / Datsun 280zx

This is true, but when was the last time you saw one?.
:)

Couple of years ago, went to with Dad to test drive both a 280ZX and a 240Z.

:edit: If you're referring to the rarity, then yes absolutely they are very rare beasts!

ZX's are complete slugs. They don't deserve the Z name.

Picture to prove my point.

:Edit: Still a nice piece of history though!

thats lovely. I agree the ZX is not a patch on the orginal Zs, I didagree it isn't fit to wear the badge, but hohum. TBH the speed isn't a concern for me, its nice to just cruise about in. I have plenty of options for speed when I want it.:)

Nice aspiring classic. Look after it :)

I'm surprised to see the "shed" and "skip" comments - I'm assuming we have a lot of very young or very ignorant posters here. It just passed an MOT so it's far from a basket case.

There's a girl I work with who has an 02 plate Corsa. She calls my Manta "a rotten old shed"

Her Corsa has a rusty arch, one mirror smashed on and held by tape, a stone cracked headlamp, the bumper is cracked and the grille in the bottom of it no longer fits after it got banged into something, there is a rus scar along one door where it's been scraped and the interior is stinking and smothered in fag ash.

But hey, it was made in 2002 and mine was made in 1988 so mine must be the shed, right? :D

wicked find mate and soooo clean too, my z32 tt is nearly ready for the road, and can't wait, jap sports cars are brill.

This isn't a sports car though. Think of it as like a Ford Cougar.

It's a medallion-and-chestwig cruiser. Not a huge amount you can do to it performance wise (other than a complete drivetrain swap) so just get it sitting right on some decent wheels (thinking RS Watanabe eights or SSR mkIIs in a 15x8/9/10 flavour) and enjoy it for what it is.

On the 'tube last night and there are some LOVELY examples of 280zxs. Somebody had cleaned up the 3.1ltr six engine and it sounded awesome.

Then there are those with the /chevy 350s under the hoods... mmmmmm.

Those are most likely Z's, not ZX's. Big difference :p:o

Shame the 280Z wasn't released here (to my knowledge anyway), dead envious of all the rust free gems over in the states.

very true, I have had stupid comments about the Z, MK1 Escort and my old MK3 Cortina, all nice cars but old. I have always loved older cars (had the cortina at 19) but people do seem to have the mentality that the older the car, the crapper it must be. When these people are driving Corsas it does make you wonder!
