i just passed one of these on the side of a terrace house in town. it was a rather fancy one that spins (3 ads I think)

anyway, did whoever owns this board call to the persons house one day and say we'll give you £xx.xx each month to put this huge beastie on your wall? how much do you think they get? are there conditions imposed?

does anyone have one on their wall and how much (if anything) do you get ;)

just interested :)

That sounds about right from what I understand, if you've got a suitable wall in a good position a shop or agency might ask how you'd feel about it, and then try to get planning permission (if needed).

One of the other stores used to have such a sign on the end of the house that as next to the turning to the road their store was on, hence putting the sign up was both an advertisement, and indicator of the location of the store.

my mates dad has one on the side of his house. he used to get paid for having it there but then someone else bought it and stopped paying him.

now he is fighting with them to have it removed coz its causing a lot of damage to his house

wasnt a rotating one just a bill board.

theres a lot of damp and the walls crumbling and they need to rebuild the upstairs wall, not good.

what sort of damage?

if it's the rotating ones would you not hear them moving when inside? lol

yeah, i would have thought you would hear it moving, but if they were paying me enough i would live with it :p

having said that if it was causing a lot of damage you wouldn't want it there. whatever they were paying surely it wouldn't buy you a new wall. that's why i'm wondering are you signed up for like a year or more. they are probably responsible for very little.
