Prison Break was excellent for the first season but got very dry after that, there's only so much you can do with a show titled "Prison Break".

I really enjoyed prison break, the first season is some of the best tv i have seen, I couldn't get into 24 but it is highly recommended, have you tried lost? The best show ever!

If you want something high-quality, along the same lines as the sopranos, try The Wire.

If you want fast-paced entertainment, try 24 or prison break. I like both of these, but you have to accept that they're over-the-top, B-movie style shows. Entertaining as long as you suspend your disbelief.

They're not big on the laughs, but I'd hardly call them 'serious'. The wire, on the other hand, is funny in a way similar to the sopranos.

I'm just about to finish season 6 of Sopranos (2 episodes left), then I just have to watch the 'final episodes'. Got to say season 6 is pretty gay though.

True but you can find some humour on occassions such as Chloe's husband being the smart arse token Brit of CTU.

Band of Brothers is great. A must watch!

Nothing comes close to The Sopranos I'm afraid, I'm currently watching season 2 of The Wire, it's pretty good but I don't think anything will ever touch The Sopranos.
I'm just going to rewatch it all again.

Got to be The Wire. Superbly written, excellent characters, well directed...about the closest show in terms of quality to The Sopranos.

Just coming to the end of season 4 myself, only one season to go!

If it's any consolation, series 5 is the best of the lot

It did make me very sad in places though.
