Well,
As some of you may know, I recently got a PS3 and sold my 360.
Now, when I had my 360 I had FIFA 08 and loved it, played it everyday since christmas, online was brilliant, manager mode was brilliant, just loved the whole game. Now its gone, and I've been playing the EURO demo, and it has really made me want a football game again!

The problem is, I don't know if I should fork out for one now or wait about 6 months till FIFA 09 comes out.

FIFA 08, I know I love everything about it, and it's only 18 quid on a certain games site, so bargain considering it couldn't be had for under 25 before. Also sold my 360 version for 17, so its like a direct swap.

EURO 08, been playing the demo loads, love the fast paced gameplay, the weather effects, the celebrations. But my dilemma in buying this is that it will be worth next to nothing by September and by the time FIFA 09 comes out, since it wouldn't be worth selling for so low, it would just be lying there, being a waste of 25-30 quid.
FIFA 09 seems to be EURO but with all clubs and an overall better experience, but I don't know if I can wait till November to play a football game!!!!
Somebody help me!:(
Thanks

I'd spend £35 on a game that I'll play everyday for 6 months.

Buy Euro, it's great. i have to have my fix of Footy games.

Also when the offical Euro starts next month you#ll be more tempted to play with Internation teams anyway! Ranked matches you get to play loads of different international teams now not just 4 bloody clubs teams that did my head in with 08.

Aye, the main problem that I had with FIFA online was constantly playing Barcelona/Manchester United/Liverpool etc. Sometimes I didn't mind because I wanted to play as one, but sometimes I liked to play as lower ranked teams, so if everyone plays as different teams on Euro, that would be great!

Like Moonpiglet, I need my football game fix, is there a lot of variety in euro's game modes that will keep me playing for months?

EDIT-Can mods make a Poll or something to see how many people think which is the right option to go for?

I'd get 08, and wait for 09.

I mean, it's just international teams at the end of the day. The game is sightly better, but with just the internation teams I don't htink it will have too much longativity.

Thats true but if you play ranked games you play about four teams whereas on international teams I've played lots of different teams now as you get more points for being weaker teams. The online cup competitions quite cool too..

Might go for FIFA 08 at the end of the day, will have more value when I want to sell it later on, and for now all clubs etc and online!
Anyone know if EA will release an update like they did in Jan or are they just gona leave it for 09:rolleyes:

Just got Fifa 08 myself & I must say it is a Superb game, I would never want to be without it now until something better came along. I'd say buy it again on the cheap. One of those games you know you just won't get tired of & has hundreds of hours of fun in it.
Top game

Go with 08 I'm still not comfortable with some of the things they did to the game for Euro. Lost some of the magic for me where as 08 still feels spot on. The AI is noticeably better in Euro though if you fancy a challenge.

Also remember to link your game to your EAsportsworld account as you will continue to build on the same xp/rank points that way.

I was in the same situation and decided to go with 08 until 09 comes out as I prefer playing as club teams. You can buy 08 for £17.99 now as well so bit of a bargain compared to Euro 08.

Alright guys,
Thanks for the input, will go for FIFA then, since its cheaper and seems to be a better stopgap till FIFA 09 comes out.
I do realist that the AI is better in EURO, also gameplay seems to link together better.

Was just playing the EURO demo a while ago as Germany, got Gomez and there was about 4 defenders with Klose running with me, decided to just through ball it and he did a BEAUTIFUL through ball past the defenders allowing Klose to glide past them and slot the ball in amazingly. Was well happy with that, although I have never seen something done similary on FIFA 08...

Its a shame you have decided against Euro 2008 because the captain your country mode is superb.

Im hoping for it to be included in FIFA 09 in a way you start at a low conference side and can work your way to Premier League/International superstar. Would be awesome.

Well, nearly everyone is saying go for FIFA 08, and it is cheaper, will not lose as much value as EURO, will not be as obsolete as fifa will in a few months.
Also has all clubs ASWELL as the countrys like Euro, although euro has better gameplay and maybe better modes...

The EURO gameplay is really starting to win me over, absolutely loving the through-balls on this game, can be so creative, and choose if you want to be fast all out attacking or more strategical.
Argghh, decisions decisions!:(
