I'm back baby!
If you were visiting Wembley Stadium and were going to get the train there from any outlying station, which station would you get it from?

All I need is secure parking near the station for a few hours. I know a few people going to Stevenage and then to Wembley, but that seems a long way round cos you have to go through Central London. I was looking at Watford but it seems like it takes a long time to get a relatively short distance from there.

As always, local knowledge is the key :)

You can take a fast train from Watford Junction that stops at Harrow & Wealdstone. From there you can get to Wembley Central station. The Wembley Park tube station is the closest to the stadium but this is on the Metropolitan line which is very slow.

All the times i've been I've used the overground to Wembley central rather than the underground to Wembley park as there is a smaller queue to get out of the place.

Expensive, but http://www.ncpwembleyparking.co.uk/

I say expensive, its a fiver!

Location: Rayners Lane LU Station
Parking From: Sunday, May 25, 2008 10:00:00 AM

The London Overground runs from Watford Junction to Wembly Station, but it is slow.

London Midland runs quick trains from Watford Junction to Euston. Wembly isn't a usual stop, but quite often on Saturday/Game days they do stop there. You will have to look at the timetable.

Awesome, cheers!

We go from South Ruislip station and park on the high street as it's free (they'll be no restrictions tomorrow) and get the Chiltern Line straight to Wembley Stadium Station, that's the one with an exit directly on to Wembley Way, and it takes 20 mins max.

M1>M25>M40>A40, it's a doddle :)

Stanmore aint too bad.
When we went for the play-off final last year we parked at the 02 centre, big sainsburies, Weatherspoons that was open dead early and only a tenner for the day:D

Stevenage is normally pretty good as you can get to London in about half an hour/40 minutes, it only stops at Finsbury park. There's a couple of decent pub/clubs nearby as well for a (as much as I hate to say it) probable victory drink.

I drove to High Wycombe (west of London) and parked at the station (lots of parking). There is a direct train to the Wembley station which takes about 20-30mins.

Yeah this is what I was going to suggest, either High Wycombe or Beaconsfield, easy access to the M40, parking available and only about 20 minutes on the Chiltern line train to Wembley. The other advantage I've found with this route is that most people seem to be coming from Marylebone rather than from High Wycombe so the trains are never that packed. I took this route for a concert at the Arena and the Race of Champions in the stadium.

Rayners Lane is your best bet. Car park is secure. Although getting to the Underground post-match is mayhem. Expect a 20-30min walk to the station alone. Are you at Doncaster vs. Leeds tomorrow by any chance? Was working at the Box Office today and will be up until the USA game next Wednesday.

Not the question you asked but when we went to the Switzerland match I found easiest way was National Express coach direct to the ground rather than training it.
