I'm looking to buy a ps3 tomorrow, are there any updates coming soon that I should be aware about? I heard something about an updated ps3 that can play ps2 games, is this true and how long will it take for that one to come out?

If tomorrow is a good time to buy, what are the best deals going? I'm not asking for any competitors, just price/deals, i'm looking to get gta4 with it.

Cheers

So far I have found,

40gb PS3 with GTA4 and any ps3 game (COD4) for £340, seems the best I can find at the moment.

I brought mine from ********* for £320 with GTA IV a few weeks back :)

EDIT : Never considered them a competitor. Sorry :)

Well I went into the store to purchase, they didn't have COD4 in stock so instead I got the ps3 40gb + i am legend blu-ray + gta4 + gt5 prologue for £340, traded in the I am legend and bought a hdmi cable with the difference for £12.

Not bad, shall have to wait for cod4! Can't wait to open it up and play!

Great deal, I would say you paid over what you needed for the HDMI cable, but who cares, You have an awesome time ahead :D

I don't mean to sound fanboyish here I'm just thinking logically £340 for a PS3 with one game? I bought my 360 back in April with three games and two official wirelesses controllers for £229. That PS3 sounds extremely expensive. You likely get a 360 pro and 10 games if you shop around for £340.

Sorry it just sound very expensive for what youd get.

Plus wifi and a blu-ray player.

I paid £300 for mine. I got the console and GTA4, which is a bargain considering GTA4 is £40/£50. Honestly it's the best £300 I've ever spent on an electrical/entertainment item. For just £50-£100 more than a 360 it's not bad considering you get a top end Blu-ray player and fantastic media capabilities too. Yes, it is more expensive, but I think it's worth every penny :)

I was gutted when I saw that for sale the other day, absolute total bargain. That's £74.97 worth of Blu-ray you get there, plus GT5P which is another £18. Even if you don't want them films, you could sell them for a good £50! Good old Jersey :)

dont turn this into a 360 vs PS3 debate. The 2 are different animals that play different games and do different things.

Doesnt matter how cheaply you can get a 360 for if you want to buy something so you can watch blu rays on your HDTV and play Gran Turismo ....

And the PS3 doesnt seem expensive at all, when you see most blu ray players are £300 on their own, but are slower, less upgradable than the PS3 and dont play games nor stream video / music too.

Got myself a PS3 a week ago for £310 with GTA4 from a highstreet chain that recently changed its name. Best price I was able to find at the time for that bundle. Very happy with it.

That's borderline trolling imo.!!!

I'm thinking of selling my Wii and getting a PS3 as I'm hardly using my Wii anymore all of the games are usually released on both except for Wii Fit and Mario Kart for example but these are in such demand its hard to get hold of a copy.

Out of curiosity, apart from the obvious....whats the difference between the 40GB and the 60GB versions of the PS3? Are they both capable of playing the same games and BluRay movies?

The only difference is no backwards compatibilty & no multi card reader in the 40gb. It willl play the same games and movies.

Nothing major then, when you say backwards compatibility I take it you mean with PS2 games, or do you mean with playing normal DVD films as well as BluRay films?
