Thought there should be a thread for those of us who have seen it and wish to discuss it without having to worry about spoiling plot elements? Particularly as a lot of people will be watching it this weekend.

Anyway, lets get the obvious thing out of the way first...

ALIENS! LOL

It's worth watching, but if you're expecting the 'magic' of the first 3 then you'll be disappointed.

And in other news... You probably shouldn't read this thread if you haven't seen it (spoilers ahoy). :p

I'd recommend people save their money and not see this. There were too many bits that were so over the top, like the kid swinging through the trees with monkeys around him for about 50 yards and he was able to catch up with the two cars despite them travelling much much faster than him. The bit were the woman drove them off the cliff and they landed on a big tree which bent them 200 feet down into the river nice and safely. The snake being used to get them out of the quick sand, etc etc. I could go on. The biggest disappointment was the whole story, aliens. Yeah. Aliens. And a big UFO right at the very end. On a plus point, Cate Blanchett was pretty fricking sweet.

The fridge scene was incredible.

Not impressive, but just incredible that anyone would think it was even vaguely plausible. I mean If the blast didn't kill him then being thrown hundreds of feet through the air in a fridge (at the age of 65) would do.

Oh yeah, the whole atomic bomb and the fridge being hurled in the air and rolling for about half a mile from the house. There must be some good suction on those fridge doors to keep them shut like that. :D

I really enjoyed it but the ending was overdone. I think it would have been much better had the Alien said congratulations etc and that humans had now reached an evolutionary point where they would be welcome to visit them and that representitives would be given the opportunity to go with them on their journey home. Representitives would be Oxy and Cate Blanchett giving views from the American and Soviet side. Peopl getting sucked in at random was stupid.

Also, the sword fight went on too long, would have been much more effective had it only been a brief spur of the moment thing rather than a protracted battle.

The ants were brilliant.

Again, I would have no hesitation recommending this film to people, it was good fun, just don't expect even a modicum of sense.

Did Ford do his own stunts in that? One of the things that made the originals cool is that he did all his own stunts, but in that bike scene it didn't look like him, when you see them from behind.

Ford didnt do all his own stunts.

In temple of doom he didnt do any as he wasnt even in the same city as the film crew, he put his back out when they shot the scenes on the elephants.

He had to go to the manchester united Doctors as he couldnt find anybody in london with the bottle to treat him because they were worried about being sued.

Bet your the king at a pub quiz!

Entertaining hokum, glad that I watched it but I don't think I'd be in any great rush to see it again what with the Tarzan impressions, cars crashing over other cars with no injuries and aliens to top it all off. Lots and lots of CGI doesn't always make a film better, just because something can be done doesn't mean it should be.

I saw it yesterday and was astounded at the idiotic comments from people walking out of the cinema. "That was way over the top" and "that would never happen".

Indiana Jones has always been a fiction - a fantasy - and an epic one at that. It has never meant to be serious or plausible: every film has its ridiculous parts.

It seems that a lot of people have forgotten that some films are allowed to be overblown and shallow because it's plain fun, and Crystal Skull is exactly that. The stunts, the monsters, the aliens - why not? It's thought by a lot of people that extra-terrestrials came and gave their knowledge to the Mayans and Egyptians.

The ending was fantastically silly - and wonderful for it. This film carried the tradition for what all Indy fims are - overblown and fun comic-book films, requiring you to suspend your disbelief for a couple of hours. It's not the most amazing film ever, far from it, but it was a fun and exhilarating journey.

BUT......

With older films you were kept on the edge of your seat because the stunts were just within the realms of possibility (with the exception of jumping out of an aeroplane in a rubber dinghy).

Nowadays, all movie stunts are computer generated and as such are completely in contravention of all physical laws.

And they do this to appeal to the ritalin generation, spoiling it for everybody else.
