I dunno if this has been posted before?

This documentary is so weird!

Its basically an independent journalist "touring" North Korea. The whole experience is so bizzare. What makes it even more strange is that the guy is just like an average American that you would sit next to in a bar and have a beer with. I dont know how they managed to pull this off but its worth watching.

Really interesting stuff.

Apologies if its a repost, just seen it on another forum.

I've read a book about the tours in N.K. and these films are going to all the exact same places. So it's nice to see what the places actually look like after reading about them.

North Korea is a madhouse run by a madman. End of.

I am not sure what we're supposed to be getting from this video series, but it's rather vapid IMHO. Some nice footage, but no real substance.

It looks and feels like a typical tourist trip, not a work of journalism (as it purports to be). The camera obviously isn't hidden, because people look directly into it and respond to the cameraman. So it can't be clandestine (as some of his respondents are naively assuming) which takes most of the fun out of it for me.

The guy might be a journalist, but I don't think he's a particularly good one. He certainly hasn't given us anything here that couldn't have been obtained by anyone else with a tourist visa, or from the many articles already published by respected investigative journalists around the world.

Rather disappointing, tbh.

The tea girl talks directly to the camera when the other guy is facing the other way and half out of shot.

And the guy says in his spiel that the NK govt knew he was a journalist when he entered the country.

So...

I believe they do hidden filming and filming out in the open.

Very strange country. A documentary which visited non-tourist areas would have been more interesting but it was an insight none the less.
