Anyone know anything about torque wrenches?

if it wasnt dead before, it probably is now

But on 7nm surly it should have started clicking and not even attempted to tighten the bolt? It was dead to begin with mate, why would i want a torque wrench that doesn't even torque bolts? If i had tried to tighten my spark plugs with this i would now be getting the head replaced.

Well the jobs i had in mind were, changing the oil and torquing up the sump plug.Spark plugs, wheel nuts, brake calipers and discs plus anything else i did in future. There were cheaper Draper ones but they didn't start from 15nm which i what i needed. Maybe I'll just go for a cheaper one then, thats if i ever get my money back on this one.

It was £30 inc delivery, seen it as high as £70 on some online stores but cheapest on an online store was £40. I'll probably just o for a cheapo one now, i thought Sealey were a decent make and really didnt expect this.

What does it go up to? i saw some that went up to 70 odd which falls short of the mark for certain jobs. But would i really need to torque the wheel nuts?

The sockets i have are 1/2" so i can use a 1/2" or 3/8" wrench. I'll have a look on ebay see what there is.

10nm to about 80nm

its more important to have something more accurate for the smaller measurements

i have a 1/2 drive one too. 30nm to 210nm.

as for sockets, get adaptors if you have to. get something accurate for the smaller measurements tho

Cheers, i'll go for the draper one as i have a 1/2" to 3/8" adapter. Then maybe get a bigger 1/2" for the bigger jobs later on.

Both mine are Teng, 1/2" which is 40-200nm and a 3/8" which is 19-80nm iirc.

Have a cheap smaller one which does 10-90nm, but think ill get the last teng one which is 5-25nm when i need it.

Decided to go for the Draper one that is 10 - 80, got it for £18 inc delivery from Amazon of all places. I'm going to send this one back and at least i don't have to worry about the guy negging me due to ebays new rules :D.
