I'm after a tyre fitting to my alloy, then car, then balancing. I've phoned a handful of places this morning only to be greeted by "Would you be supplying the tyre sir? No we don't do that anymore sir!".

.... is this new? I've never had an issue before!

i had all sorts of fun getting somewhere to fit my tyres last year

in fact, it was such a mess, i dont even want to think about it

How much would i be looking it? I only need one fitting as i'm swapping the less worn front with the matching spare. I'll obviously then need the two fronts balanced.

i had this prob when i bought used tyres, find a backstreet to fit them expect to pay £5-10 each for fitting

so £40 spent on fitting, which will often negate the saving

once i had got that sorted, i had all sorts of crap cos they all leaked

Hmmm you've put me off a bit now!

I was after a Continental Sport Contact 205/50/R17/W89 to match the 4 others I have and the new spare I'd be using. It appears they aren't made / supplied by anyone at the moment because I can only find the Sport Contact 3's which have a load index of 93+

I've been offered someone else's slightly used (100mile) spare for £75.... I'm tempted but it seems a waste if i can't find anywhere to fit and balance reliably.

do you not have any small locals near you? I'm sure they'd be happy enough to do it.

I get my mate at his garage to do mine for a fiver each but have gone to other locals before and they've never had a problem doing it - one even preferred me doing it rather than him finding a supplier for the specific tyre I wanted

you can get a sport contact 2 for £128 fitted from blackcircles.com - I know this as I had to get one of these to replace one that had large cuts in the sidewall :( it had only done 2000 miles...

Think i'm going to go for it.... not sure though. It's proven to be a right hassle finding somewhere to fit them thus far!

Where in Cheshire are you?

My local tyre fitter. When I got my tyres off the web, I think they said £15 to fit and balance each one. I got it done elsewhere though.

Hmm not too far from Altrincham probably worth it in that case.

I wandered into a kwik fit once with my mates Matiz wheels (literally walked in, wheel each). One perfect tyre on borked wheel, and one borked tyre on perfect wheel. They put the good tyre on the good wheel, binned the other 2 and didnt charge.
