Breaking News / BBC : City restaurant blast - **Update**

He probably was aiming for London or Manchester, most of the locals round here consider Exeter to be the north of England and get scared about going beyond it...

I'm struggling to get past the humour of this whole situation to be honest... The biggest questions is obviously "Where do we send this guy back to?"

To be fair the latest batch of terrorists do seem to be a bit sub par. Coming out with only minor injuries has got to be pretty poor for a suicide bomber and setting yourself on fire in an Airport isn't exactly the epitome of terror attacks.

The guy lived just down the road from me, and I was around the area in town where they arrested 2 people in a cafe - only I was there 30min before the arrests took place. Doh :(

Did get a photo of the police cordoning off the uni with a couple of riot vans and what not though :)

Hmmm maybe all these attacks are staged by the government to way lay our fear of terrorists, and make us believe they are all incompetent boobs!

:p

You just can't get the staff these days...

I think most of us here would approve of boobs, whether "incompetent" or otherwise. Hell, I don't expect much from a boob; competence isn't high on my list of criteria. Just a nice matching pair of decent proportions, that's fine with me. :)

Police statement

The investigation following the incident in Princesshay, Exeter yesterday is continuing including forensic examinations at The Giraffe restaurant in Exeter and the address at King Street in Plymouth.

The two devices are being examined and we are unable to provide any further information about them at this stage.
The investigation has established that the man we arrested, Nicky REILLY, boarded a double-decker Stagecoach bus number X38 in Bretonside bus station, Plymouth. We know that between 10.26am and 10.40am yesterday morning 54 other passengers boarded the same bus and travelled to the main bus station in Paris Street, Exeter, arriving just after midday. The bus stopped at a Garden Centre on the A38 and at Ashburton on its route.

Police are appealing for anybody who travelled on this bus to make contact with them on 0800 0561864.
In addition to the photograph we released of REILLY, we can confirm his description as white male, 22 years old, 6’1” tall with short dark hair, heavily built, weighing approximately 18 stone. He was wearing blue jeans and a blue polo shirt with horizontal red and white stripes.

Exeter is returning to normality after yesterday and we encourage people to go about their normal business whilst remaining vigilant and alerting us if they see anything suspicious.

Deputy Chief Constable Tony Melville

What I really want to know though is why go to Exeter?

Surely blowing yourself up in Plymouth would have been far easier and quicker... :D

Well the prices in Giraffe are a bit higher than most places but a quiet word would have been a better way of getting your point across rather than bombing the place :p

My office is about a 20 second walk away, didn't hear any bangs just the sirens afterwards.

Masses of police (lots with guns too) and fire dept there, first they wouldn't let us out the building. Then they said we had to evacuate, so they kept us outside at the far end of the road, I'd have felt safer (if I'd actually felt in any danger that is) staying inside thankyou very much, but I guess they know best seeing as it's their job!

Then they moved us into the car park at the end of the road, then said we could go through the car park out onto Paris street if we wanted to leave. If I hadn't lost my house key somewhere I'd have had a nice early afternoon home, I can't remember if I left it on my desk when leaving or if it might have fallen out somewhere :(

Of course didn't realise this till I got home, went all the way back up there but they still weren't letting us in the area, just heard the barriers are now down though. They also just confirmed that apparently there was a second device that has now been 'made safe'.

heh you must work about 5 seconds from me.

I'm in the building that the carpark goes around :)

lol, the building to right of the archway as you go into the carpark? Bugging me now I can picture the sign but can't remember what the business there is called :/

We've got some people in Manor Court to the right of there plus one of the larger offices opposite.

*edit* remembered, the Sitel office? :)

Haha, yeah I suppose. I wouldn't know though as I lonly go to the good(ish) parts of Plymouth (read Student places...).:p

ROFL.... You're joking right? You think the predominately student populated areas are the good-ish bits? Do you really think Mutley, north hill, greenbank etc are nice?

Better than most of the rest of Central(ish) Plymouth, because there are very few locals.:p

always got loads of people hanging about outside having a fag :p

Yeah I don't smoke, I just try and run people down in my car when I come to and leave work. I get a nice sick satisfaction from it :D

Are you serious?

It was a Muslim :o

People living near the Mr Reilly's Plymouth home, where he has lived with his family for many years, have described him as a "big friendly giant" who was "obsessed" with computers.

Any ocuk members not been online in a while?
