9800 or wait for new GFX cards

Hi all

Just got myself a new game (Age of Conan) and while looks awsome, it does mean that if I want a good FFS and nice graphics a new card is in order

Currently have a 8800 GTX and was looking at the 9800 cards or perhaps the 9800x2 cards, but reading the forums here I see there is a new card on the horizon..

Are these new cards due soon or due within the next few months and would it be worth the wait??

I would like to know that myself. I have heard these new cards are gonna be awesome compared to the 9800's but I have heard nothing about release dates.
 
http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17875869 that thread is a few down from this one, and tells you the release date of the RV770 is June 18th. NV's are around the same time.

If you have a 8800GTX do not bother to upgrade, there will be little to no difference unless you get the x2 card, and then you need to worry about SLI and it is sometimes slower at high res because of less memory (1GB shared between the 2 cards in SLI = 512MB for each core really).

You may as well just wait.
 
Wait for god's sake, if the new specs are even remotely true then there's absolutely no point in purchasing anything bar an 8800GT or something like that right now.

this means I can go from X1950 XTX to a realy cheap second hand 9800 GTX :D

although I'd like to stick with ATi / AMD as Nvidia are rubbish with drivers last time I checked..

June just round the corner so that not too long and was about when I was looking to upgrade so I will stick with what I have and see what these new cards are like.

done some more reading and they look impressive. Lets hope they live up to it
 
im waiting, its only two weeks or so, and another two before the prices begin to come down. then ill be getting a 8800 gtx :)
