Lego!

I loved lego when I were a lad, I was really into the non-techno space stuff.

I had a load of sets but what I enjoyed most was combining them into new ships and buggies and things. The Deep Freeze Defender set was a work of art though, so many little detailed features.

I'm tempted to see if I can get my hands on some of the bigger sets again, maybe start a collection. If I could think of anywhere to put them.

Kaiowas should be along soon to put us all to shame... ;)

I was trying to restrain myself as I've posted these pics so many times and they're way out of date now. Should take some new ones really:

Eep, just looked at the date on those. 3 years ago!

I've got a good idea of what most of it's worth, the majority of it was collected via eBay over a couple of years. Got a few newer sets since the pics were taken but my buying has slowed considerably as the old technic and model team is the stuff I really like and I've now got most of the sets I wanted. Shame there's no way to post a link to my peeron set list, would be an easier way of showing off what I've got.

Considering I was always a 'car' person and spent most of my childhood building various cars from Lego my favorite to build was probably the 8480 Space shuttle.

I've only bought one from ebay, my 8868. Was hoping the value would climb but it's been setting still.

My uncle has loads of LEGO, he's the one who got me into it.

Just finished restoring my 8880 kit, about so start on 8872 (which I don't see in your collection).

Our 7 year old loves his Lego, actually spent all his birthday money buying himself the harbour set.

I may encourage his love of lego slightly :p

I had loads of it as a child and still like 'helping' him build his stuff he gets.

I have got one, can't find it in the pics either but it's there somewhere.

When it's all together like that it's quite easily for quite large sets to blend in to the point of not really noticing them. We've moved house since those pics were taken and I've now got a shelving unit full upstairs and another downstairs plus a box of duplicates which were supposed to have been sold but I never got around to it. On the shelves it doesn't look anywhere near as impressive as it did spread out over the floor.

Every now and again I get the urge to take them all apart and just pile all the bricks up like they were when I was a kid just to see how big a pile it would make but it'd take me forever to seperate them all out in to sets again. :p

Lego :(

I was never any good with this kind of thing :( Knex, Lego, Mechano Airfix.... Really sucky at crafts or whatever the correct word to describe this genre is :(

That Xbow is so ******* sweet. To the OP:

get one of those then chase the wife around the house :D

The main Problem I have with lego Is that it doesnt stand up to the stress of being propelled by model rocket motors

If you want it to do the job of a model then glue it together like a model? The idea of lego is that it can be broken down and used to make a numerous amount of things, doesnt mean it cant be reversed and used to make one thing permanantly.

It'd gain strength.

I'd love to have had mindstorms as a kid. Unfortunately I don't have the imagination to build my own cool stuff like I used to so I haven't bothered adding any to my collection :(

Im soo gonna have to go back to the parents house and sit in *** loft making lego from the 2 huge boxes I have.

I still haven't been bothered to make my LEGO ipod dock, should really do that sometime.

Damn, I really want to get an 8868, then add in mindstorms. I remember loving going to Legoland to use the mindstorm kits in their tournaments :D

How much are 8868 to buy today?

Having three boys I get to play with a lot of Lego, and I've spent many happy afternoons helping them assemble their latest acqusitions, from classic sets to the newer Star Wars, Indiana Jones and Spongebob. I currently have Yoda staring down at my from my bookshelf.

I wish Mindstorms NXT had been around when I was a kid - we've had great fun assembling "educational models" like a rapid fire ball gun using bits from Bionicles.
