C.Ronaldo is nowhere near comparible to Zidane.

It's like comparing Picasso to Banksy!

Actually, I agree with you. There are lots of things that make these two not comparible.

Zinedine Zidane: 108 caps and 31 goals for France with 2 winners medals (1 World Cup and 1 Euro Championship).
Domestically career appearances 528 career goals 97 and a total of 12 medals.

Individual Honours: 23 (this is where it really counts).

Christiano Ronaldo: 54 caps and 20 goals for Portugal, but yet to win an International title with his country.
Domestically a total of 263 appearances 97 goals and a total of 6 winners medals.

Individual Honours: 32 and counting (many are expecting the World Player of the Year to follow this year).

Now, bearing in mind Ronaldo is only 5 years into his professional career and Zidane has had an amazing career spanning 18 years the facts above speak for themselves. On an individual basis Ronaldo has exceeded the individual awards won by Zidane, and I am pretty certain that this list of honours has yet to end. He has reached the number of career goals scored by Zidane in a lot less time and I would very much expect to see him outscore and out cap Zidane at International Level also.

The only area where Zidane might outdo Ronaldo is on the International honour front as I personally cannot see Portugal winning the World Cup.

So, before people say that Zidane has outdone Ronaldo, have a look at the facts. There is no doubt that ZZ was a world class player, and at his best the best player in the world, but Ronaldo isnt exactly doing badly himself.

Individual honours can be misleading as well. For a start new awards get introduced all the time, meaningless one mostly. Also, it's gonna be a lot harder for Zidane to get Real Madrid player of the year when he's up against the likes of Ronaldo (the better, fat, transexual loving one) etc.

Why are Zizou and CR being compared anyway - different positions, different national teams, completely different parts of their career, CR could be playing at the highest level for another 10 years

Real Madrid and Man Utd may be comparable in general team performances - but its pretty difficult to compare the likes of Portugal to France (the latter having a much larger population and number of national clubs to get players from)

No he hasn't. The two awards most respected in football are the World Player of the Year and the European Player of the Year. As of yet Ronaldo hasn't won either.

Most of the awards Ronaldo won, Zidane was never eligable for.

Why? Because its the only way people can try and make claim that Ronaldo isnt the best player in the world.

The same as the ones that Zidane won that Ronaldo hasn't yet had the chance to be eligible for you mean? The fact is every National League has awards to be won by the best players, yet because Ronaldo has won more domestic based titles than Zidane in the countries he has played they dont count?

As for the World Player and European Player of the Year awards, a valid response, but 99% certain to have been won come the time these awards are announced this year.

You have to accept that it's a matter of opinion and some of us just don't think he is. He is made to look average on way too many occasions to be the out right 'best player in the world' without any argument. I have never seen him put in a performance that would make me call him the best player in the world, but I don't watch every Man Utd game.

As far as I'm aware, when Zidane was playing there was no French/Spanish/Italian league player of the year.

As for top scorer awards, they're not comparable. Zidane played CM whereas Ronaldo plays on the wing and has even plays up front quite often.

You didn't just type that, did you? Individual honours from magazine's and fan club's matter more than world cups and champions league medals?
Lets stop the nonsense. Ronaldo is on the road to greatest, but he is a far from there.

I don't care about stats either, I just know that Zidane is quite easily the best player I've ever seen, not even Messi/Kaka are threatening that, although Messi might in a couple of years!

Ah yes, the 'better' Ronaldo? You still use that term?

lol, Messi and Kaka? Kaka isn't close, I'll take Messi seriously when he puts in a full season.

That's slightly unfair to compare team/country awards isn't it ? Zidane played a bigger country who had a lot more, better players at the time then Ronaldo's Portugal do now ( Though Ronaldo/Queresma are amazing ). As for the Champion's league, Real Madrid had almost the world xi when won thier titles ( Zidane counted for one of them, not 10 ;) ).

To add my opinion, Messi will be the greatest of all time, but Ronaldo will definatlely be up their :)

At least most of the current Portuguese squad are Portuguese, more than could be said for the World Cup and Euro Championships French squads that Zidane was involved in.
