Theirs a skoda octavia vrs on a Y plate near me at 133,000 miles, 1 owner and full service history, the from the photos it look in very good nick. up at 2.5k. How long is the engine and turbo, clutch good for?

I.e. could i run it and put another 35k in 3 years on it and no real big bills.

Would it handle a remap or would that kill it off?

With anything with over a 100k you will Always run the risk of a big repair bill.
Personally i'd say it's good for another 133k let alone 35k as long as it is run regularly & well serviced.
I am used to high mileage motors though & don't think twice of taking a car on a 300 mile round trip whilst it's showing 250 plus, I've done it Loads of times.

Impossible to answer. Mileage is just one factor which determines the condition and likely life of a car. Just as important are its history, condition, and how the previous owner has looked after it. Once you have all this information you make a judgement on whether it's a good buy but not before.

I would not touch a 50k mile car with 5 previous owners and a few dents and scrapes but, price dependant, I'd consider a 200k mile 1 owner from new 4 year old car in immaculate condition. I'd also ignore a 130k mile 5 owner car, etc etc.

It might help finish off a worn clutch but I doubt it would do any serious damage to the engine. I've seen 160k, 170k vRS on the original engine and gearbox so it should be good for some more miles yet. Just make sure its been looked after as it should have been.

its has 1 owner not seen it yet but i thinks its worth a look, if it is a minter could be worth it i was looking at around 5k for a 02 with 60k on the clock but 2/2.5k is a lot of repair bills.

lol high mileage :)

i've gpt a 55 plate tdi here with more miles than that :)

the 1.8T lumps are pretty much bulletproof subject to regular servicing,

just make sure its got some history of being looked after, more than likely already had a clutch (check the paperwork if any) and make sure she's had a second timing belt change(along with waterpump)
Turbos are a strange one, i've seen them last 30k miles i've seen them last 150k miles its just one of those things debending on how its looked after again.
but generally if you look after them mileage isnt an isssue, and yes will be fine for a remap, no different from a 30k mile car. Just remember at the end of the day it is a 7 yr old car and it will no doubt need work doing to it on a regular basis things like exhausts, bushes clutch brakes etc etc BUT not any more than a car with half the mileage,

just use the excuse of anything breaking as an excuse to modify :)

need a replacement turbo, (go hybrid)
needing discs and pads (Throw some brembos or drilled/grooved at it_
exhaust goes(get a stainless)

you get the idea,

price seems fair especially for a FSH 1 owner example,

Conclusion: mileage is nothing it will happily do double that, buy it put a few hundred by for any repairs that may need done and enjoy :)

There will be more wear in a 130k mile engine than in a 30k mile engine. Mapping generates levels of component stress higher than the standard engine will see, so I'd dispute your claim.

thats not always true,

theres no reason why a modern vag 18T would have any noticeable wear at 130k miles as long as its been looked after properly i've seen engines with 100k split that are brand new

on the other side of the coin i've seen engines blown to pieces within 10k just through poor maintenance and lack of mechanical sympathy

and a proper remap is not just a case of cranking up the boost, any nugget can fit a bleed valve and do that, a decent remap will remove boost spikes which IMHO will put less stress on components

out over 100k is a ticking time bomb avoid ;)

depends how it's been looked after tbh

99k is a ticking timebomb, actually

imo, if youre asking "is it too high?" you shouldn't buy it. its not up to us to convince you to buy it, buy what youre happy with

dont be silly,

recently sold one of our remapped Tdi's off still going strong with the wifes uncle on a mere 400k miles :)

and touch wood so far still hasnt went bang.

That said i have a A5 octy sitting here needing an engine mileage a whopping 72k
