Just got some flat cap mushrooms, never cooked them before so looking for how long to cook in frying pan/ what heat.

Also why does it cost 95P for 10 medium eggs yet £1.75 for 6 medium free range eggs

Much appreciated people :)

Because they are free ranged and not caged / battery birds?

I remember tasting some cheap eggs, not free ranged, and they tasted of fish because they feed them on some fish based food product. Since then i've never bought anything but free range.

they feed them st same stuff though.

Just some get to run around the eggs seam to taste the same regardless.

The meet i can understand free range corn fed chicken tastes excellent.

Should have put "acidhell2 get in here" in the title :p

It's the run around part that's the key.
If they get more room there the farmer can put fewer of them in the same space, therefore has to charge more to make the same profit.

You should cook 'em till they go brown - black (I like 'em black(ish))

Free range stuff funds animal welfare, they usually taste a little different (better) due to better exercise and diets. Asda were selling 18 f/r eggs for £2 not long ago, I noticed they were splendid in taste.

Are you doing straight-up 'shrooms? Or are you planning on making something else? There are bunches of great recipes out there that include 'shrooms.

Butter and lots of finely chopped garlic.
High (not max) heat in a fryer.
You can eat raw mushrooms so it depends how soft/hard you'd prefer them.

Well i only have the shrooms, some frying steak, some maple cured bacon and eggs. :p

Never cooked them before so didn't want to balls it up :)

we get 6 fresh free range eggs from the post office in our village for 70p.

Good man. Keep the Post Offices alive !

My gran recently cancelled her milkman deliveries as some thieving scum were either stealing the milk or the money she leaves out. She also cancelled her newspaper delivery as they were getting nicked :(

Tefal, let us know what you end up doing with those mushrooms

tell her to start it again, then plant really nasty milk outside. put something that doesn't smell in it... anthrax perhaps.

This will go great with a fried steak.

1/4 cup butter
8 ounces mushrooms (remove stems)
1 clove garlic, minced
4 cups water
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
4 tablespoons corn starch
1/3 cup cold water
1/3 cup burgundy

1. In a large sauce pan, melt butter and add mushrooms and garlic. Saute until tender.
2. Add the water, spice and Worcestershire sauce. Blend together and bring to a boil.
3. Blend the cold water and corn starch together and add to the boiling mixture.
4. Remove from heat and add burgundy wine.

oh it turns out its not fish that makes them tase of fish but soy

Although the age of egg and the conditions of its storage have a greater influence, the bird's diet does affect the flavor of egg.[6] For example, when a brown-egg chicken breed eats rapeseed or soy meals, its intestinal microbes metabolize them into fishy-smelling triethylamine, which ends up in the egg.[6] The unpredictable diet of free-range hens will produce unpredictable eggs.[6]
