How loud are water pumps??

The alternative if you don't want a reservoir is a t-peice but I would advise making a long pipe up to the top of your case, make a hole in your case and put a filling plug in the top (google them, you can get them). swiftech mini res, bayres or ek multioption I've never had a mini res but I've had the other 2 and never heard anything from them. I think the noise thing is a bit overstated especially if you bleed them properly and use them as full as you can manage.
 
Ive got two D5 pumps (one vario, one non vario) and canny hear them at all, and ive got two swiffy Mcres and canny sound anything from them. :)
 
I've got a d5 variable and on full I can't hear it. However I do have it mounted on gel/foam and the whole of the inside of my case is plastered with soundproofing material.

well i thought for discussion it would be good to post an image of running prime blend for 40mins+ and monitoring the cpu temps.

so can anyone speculate as to what kind of temps I would be seeing under water?? Cos I believe that these temps with air are incredible! I did however see the temps reach 60C.
 
air cooling has improved to the point where going water isn't the great improvement performance wise it used to be in terms of temps.

but the difference is in the noise, you can crank some great clocks under water with a few yate loons on a PA in virtual silence....can't beat that :p
 
in place large FFTs gets it hotter no?

Anyway the 45nm chips are supposed to be cooler and the point is you can do it with relative quiet, plus at 3.5ghz you're hardly pushing that chip are you, my Q6600 is sat at 3.4ghz with no effort at all, many more get much higher. You should be going for over 4ghz to make it anywhere near cost effective at which point the vcore require and the heatdump will make water more effective.

indeed you are right.

Just waiting till the summer until I go crazy with the clock. I have ambitions of getting it over 4ghz or even higher. :)
 
ambitions!!!! just stop faffing about and get on with it! overclocking really doesn't take all that long at all, wait until the summer????

Its p****** down outside, it MUST be the summer now! :p
