Hello,

Just want to get an average of the amount of people you, just you, support on a daily basis. I'm just about to start a new job and the amount of people i am supporting has trippled.

So, how many people do you support in your job? Just you.

Cheers.

there are 50-some people on this floor, supporting various systems. 4 people in my team, though 2 are trainees. we're 2L PC/citrix/jack of all trades support

on this site i would say 2-3k students and staff.

across all sites, around 30-40k students and staff i would say.

safe to say, its hectic at times. my last site, we had around 12-14k to support...

I am one of 60 people in the IT team that supports the whole of the NHS in the North West. Although we do not support the hospitals, only GP pratices, offices, drop in centres, etc etc.

JUST YOU???? :p lol

I will be supporting 150 users, just me.

i was in a team of 3 (my boss, a dba and me) supporting 150 users, where i was the only real helpdesk. i have now left

I support the Hardware/OS for over 300 sites around the UK.

Luckily problems don't pop up too often. Each site usually has a server and an average of 10 PC's.

Nearly 30 in the winchester office i look after, another 30ish in London but my boss works there but if hes busy i do all the support lol, running Macs so the volume of problems are less *whistle*

2 of us up here with an AV guy (hardly touches IT though).

main site, there was a team of about 8 of us, 3 of us actually working the jobs, visiting users etc.

think we're the second largest network in the UK or something stupid like that, educational side anyway.

Application Support, in a team of 6, and we support ~500 users. It's not too hectic though, I spend most my day lingering around on here :D

One aspect of my job i support ~150 people with certain software applications, another aspect involves me being in a team of 6 supporting hundreds of non-network pc's on a large site :(

What do you do? Thats a lot of servers...right?

Not that many depending on when it was all implemented.

Before the days of virtualization, before the days of convergent servers, before even the days of windows 2000, it wasn't uncommon to have individual servers for EVERYTHING.

At my last place of work (who unfortunately couldn't afford to mass upgrade from NT4.0), they had at least 60 servers (three of which were IBM iSeries AS/400!) across two sites.

That was a good 1000+ people just in the Midlands, with a team of 6 technical IT staff, and about 10 devs.

Now fortunately I only have to administer a small server 2003 domain with 3 sites, and 5 servers \o/ and a user base of 20~ people!
