Indiana Jones and the blah blah Fail *SPOILERS*

It's biggest crime wasn't the CGI, or the alien theme. It was quite simply the ridiculous flying saucer scene at the end.

I don't remember the originals having anything quite as dumb as the monkey swinging part though either...

I think the rodents at the beginning and the monkey scenes are no indictive of the apathy Lucas now feels for the viewers and his film-making... they resemble the ridiculous "comedy elements" of SW Episode I with Jar Jar Stinks tripping up and doing other patronisingly "goofy" things.

While I fully accept everyone is entitled to their own opinion, I think that anyone who thinks this is a good movie isn't someone whose judgement i'd rely on when choosing a film. :p

On reflection i thought it was ok but a bit far fetched but then again so is the other movies i guess. The first 20 mins were awsome but then it had some bits which were just silly and shouldnt have made it in there like mutt swinging from the vines and the fridge bit

3 out of 5

Enjoyed it, felt like an Indy movie, yes it's not perfect but neither are Indy2 and Indy3, in fact I think Indy2 is one of the weakest sequels ever made to a blockbuster

If Indy2 or Indy3 were released nowdays (ie never having been seen before) they would attract the same comments with regards to script, plot and far fetched scenes (end of Indy3 need I say more lol) and ghosts and ghouls are no less stupid than aliens and spacecraft

People taking it too seriously who should be watching their Shawshank Redemption DVD again instead :D

In order of preference Indy1 :), Indy3 ;), Indy4 :D, Indy2 :o

Regardless of it's blatant crapness, I have some questions.

If the aliens were dead then why did they come back to life after the last head was put back?

If they weren't really dead how come that crystal one in the body bag was?

If they were alive when all the heads were there, before one was taken, then why did they let the head get taken in the first place?

Why did they burn the evil KGB lady when she was the one who returned the head?

Why did the aliens fly off at the end?

I'm curious as I did think a second viewing might clear some of this up, but obviously I'm not going to be doing that any time soon.

:)

I'm in a unique film like/dislike position where I think Shawshank along with Green Mile are two of the best films I have ever seen but also know the difference between taking things seriously and taking things with a pinch of salt so I end up enjoying all the big name movies I have seen to date bar a few stinkers but typically when I dislike a film it's going to be a genuine stinker all round for everyone
.

I also thoroughly enjoy TV shows like 24 when there are people out there that say Jack must have more lives than a cat and it's so unrealistic it makes their vaginas bleed ! Yeah, I enjoy good, fun entertainment! woo!

I'd never take into account someone elses review or opinion on a movie in terms of deciding whether or not to see it. I either want to see a movie or I don't, unfortunatley film critics in the industry, press and media can to some extent spoil a films business and word on the street as early reviews can put some people off seeing a movie, gone are the days when people want to see for themselves. I'm sure some of the very very early reviews for some big films are actually done to undermine the film because the critic either hates that type of film, the lead or the director, it's fashionable to dis things nowdays so they can have there finest hour in the tabloids

As with a few of your questions I suspect you may be overthinking this. They came back to life because the film probably wouldn't end otherwise.

Maybe they were the important ones and it was just an underling that died and was in the bodybag, they were just waiting in a form of suspended animation.

Perhaps they were tricked, perhaps they were in a form of suspended animation as above and the head was stolen.

Why did they burn the evil KGB lady when she was the one who returned the head?

Because she was an evil KGB lady would be a good enough reason but they were giving her all the knowledge in the universe (as she asked for) and her puny brain couldn't take it. Maybe a clumsy way to say "be careful what you wish for".

Why did the aliens fly off at the end?

What was around to keep them on Earth? Their burial chamber was shattered, their followers were dead and they'd got the last head back.

The above are all just guesses obviously, I'm afraid I'm not about to research what Spielberg/Lucas actually intended, even if such information exists.

Yeah I just got the impression the aliens killed her on purpose on account of the uni alien thing giving her an evil look just before she burnt up.

Fair enough, I wouldn't expect you to. It was more a case of did I miss something or was there no explanation.

Either way I won't lose sleep over it :)

Jack writes his own ticket. He could sex a terrorist to death and I'd still buy it.

When I was watching this, for the first 30/45 minutes, I was thinking that they'd done it and that it was utterly fantastic. Then as it got on a bit more, I started noticing things and starting thinking "yeah right" and what not. Then I sat back and thought to myself "THIS IS AN INDIANA JONES FILM". As soon as I did so, I started to enjoy it more. I can't believe I was questioning something like Shia swinging in the trees. Yeah, it wouldn't happen. Yes he seemed to catch up with them in record time. But if you're sat in the cinema thinking that seriously about an Indiana Jones film, then do you seriously expect to enjoy it?

All in all, I did find the end scene a little bit 'too much'. But elements like the opening scene searching through the warehouse, the epic car chase through the jungle, the awesome awesome bike chase at the beginning.... There was just so much chaos and good fun. Not in the same league as The Lost Ark. But if you went in with the right attitude (which I didn't, but did half way through), then you're definitely going to have a good time watching it.

What i didnt understand was the aliens gave us technology but he then said they was archeagologists as they found the room full of gunk from around the world - but i thought they gave it to us?

Also how did someone steal the skull, because when they gave it back it suddenly became one alien? and as a thanks he killed the women who did it - so why didnt it combine and they leave originally before the skull was stolen?

It was just stupid, i know Indy is about magic/fantasy etc... etc... but this was to silly.. the Fridge and Monkeys... oh dear

Just been to see this and I was let down by the crappy cinema, there wasn't enough throw on the projector so it looked soft and we only had Dolby stereo! Onto the film itself, the first scene felt like a stage, the cgi was way overdone, some really bad cuts in places, and just lacked the general charm of the previous Indy films, I hope they don't make any more.

I think I was mostly disappointed with the objectionable amount of CGI, especially after being promised a refreshing lack of it. What ever happened to the art of illusion?

I was hoping for something a little more gritty, more real and less polished.
