Hi guys, I've had the following setup for a few months now
E8400 with Tuniq Tower Cooler
Asus P5K-E Wifi-AP Edition
OCZ 4GB (2x2GB) PC2-8000C5 1000MHz ReaperX HPC Enhanced Bandwidth Edition Dual Channel DDR2
I've had it running at a nice 3.8Ghz after adjusting the following settings in the bios based on information on these forums:-
FsB: 423
PICE Freq: 100
Dram Freq: 847 5-5-5-15 2.1v
VCore: 1.4 (resulting in 1.375v idle, 1.368 load)
CPU Spread Spectrum: Disabled
PCIE Spread Spectrum: Disabled
Load Line Calibration: Enabled
C1E Support: Disabled
Intel Speedstep: Disabled
Now I would like to hit the 4Ghz mark (seems like a round number). However, when I try to raise the FsB to 445 it becomes unstable. I've even raised the VCore to 1.45 (resulting in idle of 1.425v) but it still stays unstable. And being a 45nm I really dont want to go any higher than I already have.
I'm also fairly certain its not due to the motherboard/memory as it is stable when I lower the multiplyer to 450x8.
Do you have any suggestions how I might be able to hit 4Ghz (if possible). I've noticed the following options are set to 'Auto' at the moment, but my knowledge of their effect on the stability of the CPU is next to none:-
CPU PLL Voltage
FSB Termination Voltage
NB Voltage
SB Voltage
Clock Over-Charging Voltage
CPU GTL Voltage Reference
NB GTL Voltage Reference
Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated
