theres low, then theres looow... this is below looow.

how to make a practical car impractical.

then i retract my statement, although there must be people who do this on the cheap --- those who don't spend tons on adjustable suspension, they'll be the ones who fail :p

I know people with hardslammed (ie shocks and springs. Not juice or air) daily drivers with 30mm of clearance from the floor...

I know a guy who was so low that he went over a big puddle on the road doing 60 or so and the water like sealed against the splitter and caused a vacuum or whatever (I dunno the scientific term for this phenomenon) but anyway, it pretty much sucked his front bumper off :D

surely they have issues with the occasional McDonalds or multistories, or housing estates? may look nice but im sure 3cm clearance from the floor would have an impact on practicality... surely?

Ermm, Nissan must do things on the cheap then because my 300zx has similar damage on the front bumper and that is stock height. Also scratched gearbox oil pan, dented fuel tank and exhausts. Come to think of it even my Colt has a scuff on the front splitter and scratches on the engine cradle.
My point being, this can happen to any car.

Mine as a few marks under the front end. "There's a blind crest in.. *THUD* ... 0.2 miles back there" ;) :D

I love the Bora. Looks nice. Very "scene" and trendy these days but still stands out from a bog Bora. I think the brown tops it off nicely, but I dobt it'd work on many other cars. I like that brown euro Saxo that was posted a while back too. Simple but effective.

but its probably more likely to happen if your car is 3cm from the deck rather than whatever the standard in, obviously if you drive into a raised curb like a bus stop (not that im saying you did) your going to cause damage, im just wondering about the practicality of driving these things head on into a curb (to park) in a city centre or something.

my 2005 civic scrapes the very underside of the splitter in the car park at work, if i lowered it 1cm - i would have no splitter to scrape... or i would but it would be in pieces and no longer attached to the car.

If you drive pretty much any sports/sporty car straight from the showroom head on into a curb you will destroy the bumper. Once your front bumper is hanging lower than the average curb stone, it doesn't really matter how much lower you go, it will do the same damage. Of course you might want to avoid speed bumps if you are very low-down.

i agree, but a bora isnt a sports car, and the speed bumps thing was sort of my origional point, its not very practical... i couldnt live in my student house in stafford if i had a car 3cm off the ground, nor could i live in my brothers house, as they're both surrounded by monster suspension smashing bumps...

little to low for me :) good for photos but I'm not sure how much else.

whilst fox may say something like that, its a ridiculous statement.

Taking it to an entirely new level if you need to move house to accommodate your VW Bora. Glad i wasnt silly enough to lower my car into a position where it fails at speed bumps!

pretty photos though

You don't get it, do you?

The bora is on airbags.

The photos are of it sitting on the tyres. With a different wheel/tyre combo it would go even lower.

But with a flick of a switch, it will raise 8" in a fraction of a second.
