sorry for not replying, it is the council and i went back to the parking meter.

however on the machine it does saying something about topping up

i put that sticker over the key bit of info, will say to council if it comes up, "oh well there was a sticker on it." lol doubt they will buy it though

Definately contest, if you had stayed more than the 4 hours then you'd be liable, but it seems as though they are fining you for simply 'paying' for more than 4 hours, which im sure is easy to do if you extend your parking and don't have exact change..

Anyhoo, I would still contest it, parking companies tend to think they can do what they like to joe public.

Which is why I usually don't pay for parking in my local town, I find streets I can park in for free and walk.
