48 in a 30

Hi all, my mate has been got doing 48 in a 30 by a mobile camera. (yes i know :rolleyes:

) Now he has just got a form to fill in, the "Notice Of Intended Prosecution" Which seems to be a "yes it was me driving" form

So he sends this off, what will happen next?

What is the fine and points he is likly to get.

According to pepipoo's "magistrates guidelines", 4 - 5 points + a max £1000 fine.

I can only go on past experience, hence my post above.

But do they actually give out points that aren't in multiples of 3?

I think he means, it's not 'likely' he will get points. More of a case of he 'will' get points.

Probably a £17 fine and no points i would imagine. Standard procedure.

Well my workmate got caught at 51 in a 30 in January. He got the NIP form through fairly quickly afterwards. Filled it in and heard nothing. Couple of weeks ago he got his court date. He isn't actually going to go/contest it so will know his fate middle of June. He is expecting a biggish fine and 3-6 points. I think he just filled a form that came to say he was guilty in effect :O

Yes, it's exactly what I received for doing the exact same speed, in the exact same speed zone.

Fair enough, quite suprising that you get the same punishment for 48mph as you would for 34mph...

i got 5 points and £80 (i think) fine for 58 in a 30 so i will be very supprised if he / you gets a ban

It depends massivly on how he looks, how he speaks, what he says, how much traffic the magistrate sat in that morning, if he had an argument with his wife, etc etc.

I got 4 points an 90 quid fine for exactly the same offence. Granted it was about 9 years ago, but unless he's just passed his test he should be ok with the points and a fine.
