Im currently in Afghanistan and whilst enjoying the best of the heat, sand and thin air that the north of the country has to offer, i decided to buy a digicam. Being able to get access to the internet on a reletively (for out here) regular basis, i had a look at who would deliver to the middle of the desert, a well known US company delivered the item through the US military postal system for $5 P&P taking 7 days from order, and when i say delivered it was flown in (amonst other mail) to exactly the middle of knowhere.
I was wondering if OCUK had had any thoughts on offering such a service, at least for light items (less than 2kg is free P&P to BFPO addresses), tax free would also be nice. Im just about to order an external 2.5 inch drive but wondered how deep the red, white and blue in the OCUK logo actually ran.

Thanks

i'd drop them an email or phone them if possible. It's quite easy to send to overseas forces so i dont see it being an issue..

/also watches with interest

Just wanted to see if it generated much interest, and im back for 2 weeks shortly so will call them then, only get 30 mins a week and dont really want to use them talking to an automated answerphone ;)

i would ring them up and ask if they can sort out delivery, but tbh it would probably be easier for you to get delivery to friends or family and get them to ship it to you.

I know OCUK could deliver to BFPO but i would still have to pay P&P from OCUK to BFPO and i would still have to pay tax. It was just an idea as i doubt im the only person in this position, come Oct i will be ordering some items for a new build an if OCUK could suupply them with cheap P&P and tax free i would buy them, but at the mo a cpu, gfx card and ddr3 mem are hugely cheaper. if the price was closer i would be more than happy to by from OCUK. Obviously im no expert of any duty implications.

Or i could get it in 5 days tax free as i currently am.

You might try DHL
So long as it is not CityLink!
or he will wake up in his bivi one morning to find a card(maybe)saying we called but you were not home.and see the van disappearing over the sand dune in front:D

Delivery Choice

Hi,

OcUK are always looking at new/improved delivery choices - International by road &/or air being one we are looking at currently with DHL at the top of the list.

Whilst I cannot guarantee its free it will be reasonable and reliable!!!

Good luck from us all at OcUK.

:)

I've never had a problem with city link personally, although we've stopped using them now as their prices shot up. Not the first time i've heard about the drivers "quiet carding" though... :D

Reasonable and reliable? how do you make such garantees. I have just suffered yet another failure by city link today. Not from OCUk but still, city link can (gues the word) off. I beleive its not something at 8 failures to 1 sucess... clearly they acidently sent it to me on the right day.

Tell me about it, ive stopped buying from OCUK because of City Link's poor service.
City Link have the worst reputation in the buisness yet OCUK continue to force them onto us, it's time to make a stand people WHO'S WITH ME!!!!

To be fair - (In my experience) DHL have been very reliable indeed - City Link - not so much but what can you do :p
