no but he is. he can just say i was test driving it for a few days and im covered on his insurance.

I see what you mean now. Your mate is a trader. He let you have the car for a few days to test it - hence why it isn't your car. You were drunk and the police found you in charge of the vehicle. They ask you who owns the car. You say your mate. The police decide as you don't own the car your not insured irrespective of you thinking your mates trade policy will cover you.

Ce?

Well most usual people fill in the V5 and send it to the DVLA!!! But if the car is yours you know basic things like receipts for the sale of the vehicle etc. The trader unless 'a bit dodgy' has to pay the taxman so has his books and people nowadays inform DVLA asap as they don't want unpaid parking tickets, speeding fines etc to them.

So if the car is yours unless this 'trader' is a very good mate and willing to cover for you in terms of the insurance you need to take that on the chin aswell and if he wasn't there I know when I've test drove unsupervised I've had to sign a form from the garage to do it (special insurance) so I doubt you would be covered anyway.

Were you in the car alone or was this trader with you (with trade plates on)?

There is the chance that he is a 100% troll and making all this crap up for the attention he knows he'll get... I find it hard to believe someone can actually be this stupid and clueless about cars when they clearly drive for a living.

i dont know what a V5 is...the guy is a mate ive known my whole life.

What are you doing buying a car then?
I struggle to see how this can't be a wind up, it's a ridiculous situation and I'd hope that you would be banned for a good few years and then priced off the road after such a series of stupid blunders.
Of course, you wont be, a slap on the wrist and a £60 fine and you'll no doubt be free to kill some innocent people with your idiotic driving.
Britain, it just works.

Doesn't he need to be in the car with you and trader plates on the car?
Don't think he needs to be in the car but yes, trade plates would surely be needed.

OP, how did you get pulled over if you weren't actually driving it but just sitting in the car??

yep I find it hard to believe someone doesn't know what a V5 is. It has to be either a chav or a wind up. Or possibly both.

Lets have a pic of your offences.

.

So you've owned a car you would know what a v5 is. Even if you haven't owned a car you should know about it. It's not as if the dvla don't spend millions advertising about them.
