Liverpool FC The Best Team In Europe- it's official

Im fairly sure that if you leapfrog liverpools records that the young mancs will be ranting and raving about it, so it works both ways. There is nothing wrong with being proud of the history.

Why do Milan have more points than Liverpool for 04/05?

Pretty obvious to me - because they had better results than Liverpool in the Champions League that season, it's as simple as that. Milan won more matches and lost fewer matches than Liverpool, including good results against top European sides of the time (drawing with the champions Liverpool, beating Inter home and away, beating Man Utd home and away, beating Barcelona etc....)

Chelsea were the top seeds last year. They got to the final this year and drew but have been passed out by a team that got knocked on in the last 16 and the team they beat in the semi's! Gotta love UEFA's system!

I'm surprised that nobody has noticed this yet, but the link in the OP is actually to next years table.

UEFA's Coefficients include this years results, and the past 4 seasons.

It is not a blank season, this years results and 3 past seasons.

This years rankings are

Which would make much more sense.

How can somebody claim Liverpool are the best in Europe when you start counting seasons that haven't even started yet!?

Hell why not go as far as 2010 and say Barcelona are the best side in a few years time, Sevilla second, Chelsea third, United fourth and Liverpool/Arsenal joint fifth.

Im pretty sure as when the draw is carried out we'll then be in the 08/09 season. Iirc there was an article in the Liverpool Echo about us being top seeds for next seasons CL.

No idea tbh, just what i can recall reading a few days back.

Edit: Just found the article and it seems you're right. It mentions that we're on course to be number 1 for the following season (as long as we don't have a shocker in next seasons competition).

Baz is right (even thought the new Euro champions, having not lost a game in 07/08 season and only drawn 3, have gone down in the rankings )

But as I said, UEFA's site are using the same stats I would go by.

The draw for the seedings in the CL/UEFA Cup use last years rankings not this years.

As in my edit, you're right nikebee. YLMN got it a bit mixed up. As long as we have a reasonable CL run next year we'll be more or less certain to be number 1 for the following season.
