IGN UK Reviews MGS4 (no spoilers)

Just need proper GT5 and the PS3 will be a worthy addition.

Although, cant say this isnt tempting me to buy a PS3.. hrmmm

Wait, is it coming to 360?

What happened with GTA? I haven't bought it yet, am I correct in assuming it doesn't live up to the reviews?

I did read some cringe worthy articles having said that :-)
 
I enjoy the cutscenes probably more than the gameplay!

If they released MGS4 as a DVD I would still pay £40 for it just to find out what happens :p

It appears they got a person who isn't really an MGS fan by admittance to review it. Doesn't make sense, you get racing game fans to review racing games, shooting fans to review FPSes, so why deviate from the norm and dock the game points just because there's a crowd out there that wouldn't make head nor tale of MGS?

The EG review isn't quite as bad as GTA4 getting high scores everywhere but it still doesn't make sense.

By the sound of it, only if your a fan of the series :rolleyes: like GTA I've never played or seen any previous MGS titles.
However, the trailer looks good (but looks all cutscenes) but I'll reserve judgement until gameplay videos are doing the rounds.

Some of EG reviews do come across oddly. RE4 on the Wii got 7/10 as the reviewer didn't like the controls, but hardly anyone has problems with them, infact most people think it makes it easier.

IGN have always rated MGS games highly, 96-99 for the series. EG/Edge both gave MGS3 8/10 so this isn't a huge surprise.

Perhaps you should try playing some of the orignal games then before playing MGS4 - it is by and large a game for the fans of the series, even Kojima has admitted this.

You can't expect to get the same buzz or apreciation for the game if you've never played any of the series from the past 20 years.
 
Even though i havent played the metal gear solid games a lot i must say i am really looking forward to it now and we dont have to wait long now :D .
 
If GTA4 got a 10, this got a 9.9, this must be totally average ;).

I'll wait for a better review, but it's certainly looking tasty. Glad I have my pre-order in anyway.
