GeForce GTX 280 & GTX 260 Prices

So now we have the prices are they worth it or a bit too exspensive and also do people think this puts pressure on AmdAti to declare their prices.

Ouch! a $200 difference?! I highly doubt it's 45% faster than a GTX260 to even remotely justify the cost. I'd doubt that it's more than 20% faster really. Wonder that that'll translate to over here then? £300-350 for the 260 and £450-500 for the 280?

I was going to say 400+ for the 280 and 300+ for the 260

Probably a bit cheaper than that, £400 for the 280, £275 for the 260.

but dont think for one minute that i will buy one of those cards at those prices. id rather wait 6 months to get them at more reasonable prices.

I would be quite happy with a single gpu with the power of the gx2 if it is around 250 or just above.

Oh yeah . With none of the crippling 256bit interface for high res gaming . Depending on how good the ATI cards are this could become a reality quicker than we're used to when new hardware comes out.

With GDDR5 it should have the bandwidth even with 256bit bus

£400 is not much more than i paid for a 7800 and 8800 GTX when they first came out. But i suppose they were both great leaps in Graphical power.
Was gonna buy on Launch but am gonna hold off as theres no Games that are gonna benefit anyway other than crysis and its cack.

May shift over to Ati this time.

I was meaning about the GT 260. I'm sure both the new Nvidia card specs are higher than 384bit as they are using GDDR3.

I was going to buy one of the new 200 series cards but have orderd a PS3 instead. It seems much better value, and my 3850 will last for another year or so. £270 for a card that's not even top of the range - PAH!.

Well i am still oncourse for an Ati 4*** card these prices are not appealing to me no matter what performance increase there is.
