Hi all,

It wasn't until i bought my Felicia fun pickup that I started paying attention to this corner of the OcUK forums. I hope to bring something a little different by presenting my full 2 weeks work-log of painting my truck.

This is Day one
The day the truck gets taken to the body shop for 2 weeks of torture by airbrush, spray gun, polish and paper.
At the moment it is still sitting on the drive. I'm waiting for my Fiesta to pass its MOT ( which will be today! ) so i can get back and forward fromt he body shop every day.

I have to take all of my stuff over there too, compressor, plotter, paints, guns, brushes etc etc so i can see myself making a few journeys today!

Last night the car was washed one last time

There's a few minor repairs and a slightly lless minor repair to be done on the tailgate, most of the faults are scratches, and a light bit of rust. nothing too serious, but the glued-on trim will cause some major headaches.

So by now you may be wondering what i have in store for this project, Well i can say now that it will not be to everyone's taste. In fact a lot of people will hate it! It is not the style of custom paint you will see over here.

I'm going for Cal' style graphics ( lots of colours / shapes with loud pinstripes ) no metallics will be present ( there is a reason for this)
The bonnet will house some sick freehand / pinstriping / masking techniques, which if turn out as good as it has in my head, should look pretty sweet.

here's a teaser of a spot around the back arch

Colours will be yellow, green, silver / rust, purple/blue, candy green/yellow, black.

Most people know me and my work for being dark, mainly black with monochrome artwork. Since this is a Felicia fun, and was made only in yellow ( and it is a true beach mobile ;) ) I'm keeping the scheme loud, bright and FUN!, it will have a dark side to it though ;)

I'll be posting back here with all progress, pictures, maybe videos.

Enjoy!

:D

BRING IT!

If half of the ideas you showed me make it to reality, it will pwn all ;)

Make sure the body is cleaned and smoothed before you start. Too much clutter like trim/rubbing strips will get in the way of the design :)

bumpers come off easily, the skirts and arches are "glued on like a mother ******" according to a friend who already tried to take them off, and failed.
they are going to cause problems, but we will find a way around it.

the whole lot will be sanded back and primed again.

THe body shop is ran by 2 friends of mine, a small operation but they are capable of a lot. They are going to be doing the repairs and the 'big gun' jobs for me. all they need to do is give me a blank canvas, then i will be doing all of the graphics and airbrushing from there. then they come back in to clearcoat the truck.

I'll give you a holla when she is half pimped, roll on down and shoot some pics yo!
:P

That should look really cool when it's done:)

If that old bus in the background has "gypsie queen" or something like that written on it I saw it at the petrol station at the top of my street yesterday.

Fantastic, I personally can't wait to see how this turns out. The cases you have done are truly awe-inspiring, and the quality and attention to detail of your work is just jaw-dropping, so I will be following this thread with much interest.

Good on you for thinking outside of the box aswell, this is going to be great

Hey neil...

Yea that is the gypsie queen bus! it's very rare indeed! chassis number 0000003, 77 years old! The fella across the street used to run a bus company, 3 buses similar to that ( bedford) were donated to him by a close friend who passed away. He has took the bus out of storage for a show over in south shields tomorrow.

Me and my mate went around the block with him in it earlier today it was class! Crash gearbox and everything!

as for my car.... well I have the fiesta back, complete with the worst welding i have ever seen, more underseal than i have ever seen ( to try and hide the bad welding!) the bonnet release cable doesnt work anymore etc etc. Its taxed and tested though! yippee

Cannot get ahold of anyone at the bodyshop... been over and there's no one to be seen so day one = wasted!
