Well I'm bored of my k800i. I find myself wanting to use the internet more on my phone (hence the £28 in data charges alone this month - ouch) and barely use the camera. There are usually 4 or 5 girls out with on nights out in town all with cameras.

The iPhone looks pretty good and has all I want, youtube, iplayer, google map access and good imap e-mail compatibility.

I was going to take the plunge and get the 8Gb version, but sold out apparently and the 16Gb although nice, is a bit out my price range at the moment.

Apparently there is going to be a 3g iPhone soon so I'm going to wait for that. Anyone else looking forward to it, or know anything about it other than the rumors started on one site and reposted on every mobile site on the internet?

If only this was the 3g iPhone;

I dont think you are the only one - for some reason ocuk like to move all the iphone threads to the apple section (perhaps they should call the mobile forum the Nokia, SE, Samsung and LG forum).

I have always maintained the biggest reason I didnt want an iphone is because of its lack of 3g and'closed' OS. With 3G, the SDk announced, potentially GPS and, lets hope flash support(please) - I am waiting for the new iphone. It wont be much different but will be an evolution of the 1st gen iphone.

Nokia is pretty much dead in the water (for me (as a bit of a Nokia fanboy)) at this point, I dont see them coming anywhere near the iphone, OSwise.

I think all the Apple elitists like to stay in their own little community, away from potentially negative comments about their choice of phone brand. ;)

It's true, and as an iPhone (and Mac) owner I find it pretty petty/annoying. I don't want to be shut in a walled community with a load of Apple zealots when I'm talking about my mobile phone. :)

i would like an iphone, but realisticly i know its only a matter of time before the competition catch up.

So far, competitors such as samsung, LG etc.. have tryed to copy it, but made a bit of a hash of it. capturing somehting of the esscence, but not producing anything as intuitive and well designed

Step forward the iphones arch nemesis. Google android. Its an open source phone OS from google, and it will be sold on with handsets from the open handset alliance. Meaning there will be loads of manufacturers for them. So far 5 are apparently in testing.

And at the google I/O conference last week, they demo'd the HTC Dream.

here's some more about the Android OS

The customizable shortcuts, the time sensitive touch screen (ie it can differ between a long press and a short press), the ability to move stuff around the screen by dragging your finger around the touchscreen etc..

Even the web browsing experience looks as good as the iphone. See for yourself. The iphones got competition
