Race Driver Grid Demo available (Xbox360)

Yeah, PS3 version for me.
Played the PC version too, which was pretty similar, just faster framerate and higher res really. There wasn't enough difference to dissuade me from the simplicity of just firing it up on a console ;)

I can't comment on the 360 version, but if they look and handle the same, I have to say it's pretty good. Would come down to if you want to "whore" those points ;) also if you prefer the 360 controller, and have more friends on Live.

Vin.

Did you play the demo? has the handling changed since then?

And the tearing?

A bit of a tangent I know but most demo I have downloaded from PSN have bad tearing, Dirt for example, is this erradicated in the final releas of most games and simply a way of maintaining a higher framerate before the game is properly tweaked?

Yes, I played and loved the demo.

I haven't really noticed much difference in the handling, though saying that, I've driven quite a few different cars already, and they all feel different.

I didn't have any tearing in the demo, nor do I in the full game.

As for spinning out and not being able to win races, I've won all my races so far. You just have to use the triggers better. Don't blast the throttle from 0 to max... squeeze it in, and control the spin. I find that going into a big corner, and tapping the handbreak to initiate a spin, then using quarter/half throttle to keep the spin going until the car is facing in the right direction, easing off the throttle to stop the spin, and then reapply up to full, allows you to fly around the corners.

Really great fun :)
(and a bit frustrating at times too, some of the cars feel more intent on taking you out, than winning the race!) ;)

Vin.

EDIT: Actually there is one instance of tearing, but it's not during gameplay anyway, so I never pay it any attention. The only tearing I've seen in Grid, is just before the race, where it shows all the cars on the Grid, ready to go, and the camera pans around and does a flyby to your car. I get a bit of tearing there, but as I said, none at all during the actual game, so never really paid it any attention.

Random question for those that have bought the 360 version - on the back of the case does it state what size memory unit is required to play the game? (memory card, not HDD)

Did anyone see the review on Plyr? the guy testing it was pants, every clip they showed he either smashed into a wall or his oppenents :p

I just got it on 360 and decided to get it on this instead of ps3 because my mate got it yesterday and there is no friends invites on the multiplayer side of the ps3 version :o that is just stupid , so last night he was just playing randoms all the time but how many people would buy the game so they could race against there friends ? i know i would .

I got it on the 360 for that reason.

Just played the Grid Demo with the Microsoft wheel(mounted on a cheap small computer desk), as i was initially dissapointed with the handling on the controller, and it was flippin brilliant :)

It's too sensitive with the controller isn't it? At least with the sticks for me, I have to turn on traction control for this as it's rather erratic without TC. Almost like as if one was using the dpad with no fluid actions compared to other racing games. I really love the touring cars on this. It's quite a fun game.

Im not sure what it is, but i found myself doing really badly on the touring cars, switched to the wheel and bam i was winning every time. On the controller, the cars didnt feel like cars.

:(

I'm having top fun with this at the moment(abit of a change from forza) but I have never come across so many morons online. Bang!! - you are wrecked, don't you just love it.I know things like this have gone on sinch multiplayer started but sometimes I find someone has wrecked me before the first corner.

I assume over the next month of so that will slow down as you will find more mature players sticking to it. It's the one gripe I have with racers but there is nothing that can be done about it. I want collision detection but I don't want racers taking me out at corners.

Hopefully games in the future will be able to tell when someone is taking players out at corners, rather than slowing down.
