Are you feeling the recession yet?

I'm feeling the rate of inflation certainly, because everything has risen by more than my income has; some things like food and petrol, very significantly more. But other than that, I have always been very frugal and always saved a lot.

I'm spending less money than last year for a couple of reasons, I earn about £200 less per month and i'm saving a large chunk of it for university (meaning I don't even get the bus to work, I walk instead for the half hour).

I can't explain it but I seem to be saving a lot recently. I just don't feel like spending my hard earned on "pointless" things. Quite strange because even back in Jan/Feb I was still spending quite a lot. It seems that if enough people convince you there is a recession then you start to just accept it and change your behaviour to suit?

What about you folks?

Not really the recession more inflation. The basic cost of living is going up so I have less cash to spend on luxuries.

nope. just deciding on where to go for xmas / new year. looks like a week in barbados then a week cruising the caribbean, if i cant arrange 2 weeks off at that point then just a week cruising or a week in barbados!

I'm saving more of late. Although I would be saving regardless of the economy as I'm saving for something.

Other than my living costs increasing the recession (or whatever) hasn't really affected me that much.

I am only feeling the effects of incredibly high (and constantly rising) petrol costs. Everything else pretty much has stayed the same price-wise.

Nope, but I have no debts, no mortgage to pay, dont spend a lot on petrol so its not too much of a problem for me.

For years I was either in a crap paid job or at college, now that since last year I have paid off all my debts I am enjoying saving money each month, I have more disposable income than ever before and (for a change) am sticking to saving money, probably either for something sensible like a house, or something daft like a months holiday with 10 bikini models with loose morals...

I now only buy something when I need it - not when I want it.

And it's not really anything to do with a recession looming. It's just I realised that I don't need the newest gadget on the block anymore just for a 2 day high fumbling around with a new toy that cost a few hundred quid.

I also get more enjoyment from my child and family now and don't feel the need to have the materialistic electronic plastic rubbish that I used to be fond of buying every 3 or 4 months.

After doing this for the last few years now, I have paid off a lot of debts and actually have a fair amount of savings - o can afford to retire early and hopefully get shot of this country and it's buy now pay later ethos ;)

i am the same. saving like mad and cutting out all non essentials.

i don't feel particularly safe in my job and am experiencing rising household bills and fuel costs. i especially notice the price rises in supermarket goods.

ASDA shop bit more than usual but nothing heriffic, aside from that just dont hoon the car as much, just doing more work to earn more really. Getting older as spending more on the garden then anything.
