I'm not 100% sure about OEM versions but I know retails copies allow you to use a 32 or 64 key.
Nope (it says Retail, but don't worry - stick your key in and if you're allowed to order a DVD, it'll let you).I'm sure I read somewhere that, if you had an OEM copy of Vista x86, you could obtain an x64 licence for the same version for a mininal fee from MS.
Is this true or was I dreaming it?

If you are currently running Windows XP on your PC you can determine if the PC has a 32- or 64-bit processor by following these steps:
1. From the Start menu select "My Computer"
2. From the "My Computer" window select "View system information"
3. From the "System Properties" window select the "Advanced" tab
4. From the "Advanced" tab click the "Environment Variables" button
5. Look through the "System variables" list for a variable called "PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE". If this PC has a 32-bit processor this variable will have a value of "x86". If it has a 64-bit processor this variable will have a value of "x64".
is vista 64bit based on windows server 2008?
No idea if an OEM key works in that online ordering section, but as far as I'm aware the media is all the same anyway, whether it's OEM or Retail licenses.
Suppose it is best to get from the OEM page though.![]()
Im also interested in this as I made the mistake of just installing 32-bit without ordering 64-bit as I couldn't be bothered to wait
I will see if my key works with this thing.
Edit: Just reading through the FAQs etc and noticed this:
I did this in Vista and the PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE is x86. I presume this is just because thats the vista im running now. Is the E6300 64-bit?
Edit2: It also says the product key I have entered is invalid :S I took the product key off the COA sticker. Checked for errors.
There's a link in the sticky to order 64 bit OEM media.

It's not the same method as getting retail media.

Sticky said:The retail editions only include the 32 bit DVD. To procure a 64bit DVD you must purchase the media from MS. The Cost including shipping is around £7. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvist...a/default.mspx
you don't ened to pay anything, just get hold of a vista 64bit disc, and choose the same version when installing (ie, home premium, business ,or ultimate, whichever you paid for) same key will work fine
Is it that link? I tried it and it came back with this error: No offer Found.
Any ideas?
But where to get hold of one apart from MS?
I was referring to this link: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/326246 at the bottom of the sticky.
