I started this project a year ago today, on the 1st June 2007. Since then I have taken a photo every day and posted it up on deviantArt.

This isn't a technical improvement project, more so a diary. I certainly got shots I wouldn't have otherwise though. I'm pretty proud of myself for keeping it going this long.

Here are my 366 photos from each day last year:

Here's to next year!

thats very cool

first thing that came to mind when i saw it was to put together a video of them flicking through one after the other to some nice music

Well done there~
I've also been thinking of doing something like that, inspired by this guy Just waiting for my birthday in July before I start :)

Very impressive mate, should make a big grid of parts of the images, to create like a collage, would look quite effective.

Well done!

Did you shoot all the photos with DSLR? I can't imagine myself carrying camera everyday let alone mobile phone.

There was an artist who took photos of food he ate in a year.

shame about the sweary in 1 of them. I really want to do something like this, but working full time makes it such a mission to get out, especially in winter

Absolutely superb Robert!

Every time I get to log into DA, I always browse your gallery. You've always got something on offer

You've been on fire since the start of 2007, keep up the top work. Your work never goes unnoticed!

Cheers everyone, glad you like it!

Not sure about making a video of it, might be a bit long!

I think Jamie Livingston's photo-diary is particularly good because of the consistent format of the photos, unlike mine in which the crop and tones vary considerably. I was discussing his diary with a friend last night and we decided that to die doing it was kind of the ultimate goal (with respect of course).

I'd say 95% of the photos have come from my D50 but there are quite a few from random cameras I've borrowed and my phone too. Carrying a DSLR around isn't as hard as you think, they don't need the crazy lowepro/crumpler protection often prescribed by people here. I just had it loose in my satchel bag or backpack. No real protection, one small scuff of the screen is the only real damage.

To Sic, not sure the sweary comment was worth belittling the above for, especially as people have sexual content in their sigs. The 'kids' don't need our protection from rude words.
/Attack over :P

But yes, honestly you should consider starting one. I too fear keeping it going once I'm in a full time job (October...). But that's the challenge. And you'd be surprised at how many photographic opportunities are out there if you have your camera on you.

Cheers dark_shadow, it's great to hear people are looking at my work :)

Wow  Nice one on actually managing to complete it, I am sure if I tried I would just have no motivation some days or even when I had motivation just not find anything to shoot, there's some superb images in there. I might give it a go at some point, I'd hope that I had the motivation to keep it up.

There was some freeware recommended on BBC Click recently that enables you to stick in a load of JPEGs with the intention to output a stop-motion video. I reckon it'd look pretty cool if you did something like that.

Well done, I think there are some great shots. The only ones not to my tastes are what look like overdone HDR.

Hey! I wasn't saying that it ruined the set, not by any means - I think you've done amazing work and I'd love to see one with each photo at an 800px minimum, I just meant that if a moderator spotted it, it'd get removed and you'd get suspended.

Y'know, I think I might. I have the week off this week so it'd be a perfect time to start it. My problem is I'm so mentally drained by my job that it's difficult to motivate myself to do it. I do normally carry my camera, but it's rare that an image presents itself - I guess I just have to start looking!

Very nice mate. Really impressive and it must feel amazing to see it finished. Bet you never imagined that it would look like that on day 1!

Really inspiring mate.

Right that's it, I would like to try something similar too as those are awesome! and also a very nice way to documenting your daily encounters!

The mods aren't that harsh are they!? :P
Here's my flickr with the photos; http://www.flickr.com/photos/robertgilbert86/sets/72157604565483824/

Don't worry about it being an arty image. Just a shot that represents the day is enough.

hah, what do you think!? Of course they are :p

I got my first one down today - it symbolises my apathy towards photography recently as it's a place I've really been meaning to get to. It also lead to my first stranger-portrait, but I didn't want to post more than 1 a day!
