After a bit of selling advice for a relatives car.

My great aunts and uncles have a very nice 1974 Audi 80 in red, and are trying to get rid of it soon. Our friendly mechanic looks like the guy to take it away and flog it for a bit, but even though friendly it could be vastly undervalued.

EDIT 16th June...... THE ACTUAL CAR MMMMM NOM NOM:

Any idea what this sort of car is worth, and where the best place to possibly sell it would be ?

From what I rememebr the condition was great, no rear seat belts, lovely light brown furry seats and condition was pretty awesome overall. It's been in a garage for a few years so my dad will have to go get it running again, so obviously not MOT or tax.

Cheers

Quite a bit if you sell it in the right place... Scenetaxtastic.

There have been two or three REALLY nice 80s in the last couple of years...So people know them...

Sounds good, but obviously depends on how well I get it out there, and who is in the market for one.

Just spoken to dad and he says is has the larger 1.5 engine and has the manufacturers sliding metal sunroof. Ssid condition was good overall but the bottom of the doors were starting to rust a bit.

Where do you reommend I go from here, some audi forums possibly, as e'gash' and maybe autotrader are something I would prefer to avoid, especially e'gash' itself?

O and 'Scenetaxtastic', what the hell does that mean, Im a little worse for wear today so am not really understanding too much ;)

'Scene tax' is a term that describes the inflated price some cars acquire when they become popular with a certain crowd.

Put it this way - with full tax and test, all original chrome and no welding needed, you could ask for 6 grand from the right person if it had coilovers and BBS splits...

As described, I'd give you 600 with T&T.

 Seriously wow. Maybe it isn't worth flogging as is out of the garage, even 600 is an awesome price with T&T.

£6k would surely be for the models with the higher specced engines. Had a look around on *** web and their seemed to be a 1.7/1.8 version out there and multiple versions, GL, GLE etc. Il get more details and pics, then consider it as a worthwhile project possibly. Could get him to get rid of the Scimitar, far too many problems with that heap and the microcracks in the actual fibreglass shell made the respray look very average.

I'm sure my mum will be thrilled about that, especially after he smoked damaged my room at home by trying to smoke out the wasps from the chimney stack this weekend

Il have a look on some audi forums as well, especially classic-audi and audifans.net. Any other good forums you know of, I could get into this ?

Can anyone give me an OOOOOOOF ? :D

It looked very suty when the garage opened. Some WD40 down where the plugs sit, some petrol dropped through the air intake, checking contacts under distributer cap, some washing, and some praying, then it lived !

Jesus that looks like a minter :)

Ye, it's in pretty damn fine nick.

There is some rust at the bottom of the front doors, the paint has been touched up with the odd blob here and there, and few small dents, but otherwise lovely.

Exhaust has a hole in it, although will be replaced when the MOT is done, and then maybe work on it or find someone to sell it to. Could be an awesome project for someone, but I love the little 80GL :D

It looks really nice. i'd get a club valuation done on it or at least have a look in the practical classics guide. Classics are worth a lot more than some people give credit for.

ye I know, it needs a little work to make it truly purr, then Il get some feelers out there to see if it is worth selling.

im really drawn to it and want to keep it and jsut drive it a bit. Damn penski and all his threads filled with retro ride pics :D
