Yes, I believe in God, I have more athiest friends than I do that believe in God, I treat everyone equally, but there are a$$holes in the world unfortunately, and many people within this thread can be tagged as them because they don't respect other people's views. These are the people who cause the trouble in the world.

Jihad on you

I'm 99.999999% there is no such thing as God and that's atheism as far as I'm concerned. It is 100% to me but agnostic mates sometimes say, "well you can't know for sure." If anyone like that is reading this then compare it to believing the sun will come up in the morning i.e. it is so probable that there is no God that it isn't worth mentioning any doubt.

I believe in myself - :)

Thats my stock quote for my religious beliefs :) I've got 2 kids and neither of them have been christened. I know a lot of people who don't go to church yet they feel the need to do this.
The other thing that really annoys me is how hypercritical some people are, they will get their kids christened just to get into a good school. Thats after 12 years of feeling there's no need

So my answer is no.

No.

Find out what the deal is in a couple of years any way, no need to worry about all that jazz in the mean time.

 because the deal is nothing? You don't believe in anything so there's no need to ever worry in the mean time and when you do die because nothing will happen IYHO :)

I beleive that God was an explanation for a lot of troubles / unknown "Phenomena" back in the day...

However nowadays, with science, there is no need to use the idea of a God or Gods as an explanation for pretty much everything.

I'm not religious.. to sum it up :p

Where does this certainty come from? Why is it probable that there's no god?

I'm an Existentialist.

Throughout my life I've seen absolutely no evidence that a God exists, or if he does he sure as hell doesn't give a damn about us.

It also irks me to see religion used so sparingly these days, almost as a joke. You've got 16 year old harlots hanging off their waster yob boyfriend while he breaks your window, all the while sporting a "JESUS ROCKS" belt.

I respect other people's beliefs, even if I think they're nonsense. I simply ask that in return they respect mine.

For me, the only reason to feel the need to put faith in a higher power, which doesn't have so much as a shred of evidence to support it (God) would be from a deep seeded insecurity.

"Everything will be okay, God has a plan"

While I don't believe in God, I do believe that religious values are a very good way to live your lifeby. That is exclusing cases of extremism though, of course.

I don't think that's necessarily the case - people also believe in a god as it's one explanation of where we come from. A common accusation of atheists (and this isn't directed at you, Ben) is that people who believe in god are stupid, delusional and weak which is pretty insulting to be frank.

Personally, don't believe.

For those interested, www.templeton.org have a pretty interesting series of essays on whether science renders god obsolete; and whether the universe has a purpose.

I think Red Dwarf got it right :D

Archeologists near mount Sinai have discovered what is believed to be a missing page from the Bible. The page is currently being carbon dated in Bonn. If genuine it belongs at the beginning of the Bible and is believed to read "To my darling Candy. All characters portrayed within this book are fictitous and any resemblance to persons living or dead is purely coincidental."

I don't see why people who have no faith want to mock those who do.

I also dont see why people who have faith want to mock those who don't.

An Epiphany can happen at any point in our lives.

No one says a computer has no maker so why do people suggest that of the universe?!!!!

When I find a 'God' logo and Windows sticker on the Universe I might agree but until then I'm agnostic and heavily leaning towards atheist.

If irrefutable proof was shown, one way or the other I would be happy to believe it.

I'm not sure which group of people I find more annoying... Vegetarians who eat Chicken and Fish, or Agnostics, who 'can't be sure'. One side, or the other please. :D

For the record, I am an Atheist who believes in the Big Bang theory of creation, but can't get his head round why it happened, or what there was before it. I went to Sunday School (for a short while) and used to do very well in R.E. classes, so I'm not completely uneducated in religious matters. In my early teens I came to the conclusion that with so many terrible things happening to innocent people around the world, any Supreme Being that allowed these things to happen, and yet still demanded adoration, worship and the right to judge us, was simply beneath my contempt. I felt that the world would be a better place with religion purged. Sometimes, I still do.

But as I've grown a bit older I've mellowed, and am happy to let people believe what they like, just don't go ruining mine, or anyone else's day.
