I just dropped in to a small Tesco and picked up a basic, £1.10 "Deep Fill Cheese & Onion" sandwich. As I was eating it I looked at the nutritional information and

Calories: 655 (33%)
Sugar: 4.2g (5%)
Fat: 41.5g (59%)
Saturates: 15.5g (78%)
Salt: 2.2g (37%)

Now I'm not a calorie counter, but this seems a bit much for a one pound sandwich. A couple of these a day and you'll be well on the way to being a porker :p

Could we send these to Ethiopia? They must cost 10p or less to make, so for just a couple of billion pounds surely we could end starvation in Africa?

Tesco Deep Fill Cheese & Onion sandwiches should get a nobel prize.

Tis all the cheese probably. Mmm, cheese.

Reminds me of a Smashie and Nicey sketch...

'It's the 'Mike Smash Mornin' Show' solution to world famine'
'What is it mate?'
'Sandwiches'
'We'll run out of cheese!'
'That doesn't matter mate, as long as it's got a little bit of pickle in.'

A man that reads the calories on the packet.

When're you coming out of the closet?

I've had a few of these tesco's cheese sandwiches and everytime I do I get a salt high. They are cheap, but for a reason :(

a sandwich isnt too bad on its own, its just that they arent filling. so you buy a packet of crisps or a muffin as well, then you see an offer for those plus a fizzy drink.

suddenly you are consuming lots of fat and crap carbs only ot feel hungry again an hour later
