Ignoring if the prices are too high.

Which car would be easiest to re-sell making the least loss?
and/or which car is the most desirable?

I realise without full detail of the car this may be completely pointless but it'll help me out by having more of an idea which model is likely to sell easiest.

I cant imagine it making much difference at all really.

Just get the one you like best, driving around in something you dont like just becuase its worth £200 more at tradein time is a bit silly really.

Mind you, so is spending £5300 on a Ford Ka. You can buy new ones for less!

It would be purchased and resold within a few weeks (for complicated reasons!) so I was trying to figure out which one we'd lose the least on if buying at those prices.

Surely if its being sold a matter of weeks later and all those cars are priced at market value they'll all be around the same?

Why would you buy such a new car just to use for a few weeks? Why not hire one!?

All of those cars are in the absolute bottom cheapy bracket of most car hire firms - Easycar will rent you a Ford Ka 1.3 for £270 for 3 weeks. Surely LOADS less hassle?

Why spend so much then? if its going to be sold in a few weeks? or as said hire

This may sound odd but that's the price the car is being sold at but the cost to us is less. I don't want to explain it in full here, although I appreciate it sounds strange!

Therefore hire car isn't an option.
The car will be purchased, maybe used for a few weeks and resold trying to lose the least amount possible and maximise the amount made on the car over the amount it actually cost.

If the cost to you is less then surely the car to pick is the one which is priced, to you, the furthest UNDER book value?

How can we make a choice on which car is best if the price you've presented us with isnt the price you'll pay?!

If Car A depreciates like mad, say £300 a month, but is offered to you at £500 under book its surely a better bet than Car B which has very low depreciation of £100 a month but is only offered at book price?

This sounds very strange. Are you trying to profit out of a dealers 'goodwill' offer or something? Such offers are rarely beneficial..

So you're getting one of those for cheap and going to sell it on for profit.

Id probs go with the

06 Toyota Aygo 1.0 3dr myself these seem to be pretty popular at the moment. But on all of them. In a few weeks aint really doing to drop in price by a stupid ammount.

Working on the prices I've given and book value would also work surely?

The one that's priced the least over book value or most under book value is the one I should go for, assuming it'll sell easy enough?

Yes - pretty much. And dont forget they are dealership prices which as a private seller you can't sell the car for. Don't forget to take this into account.

If these cars are being offered at more than Glass's Trade I'd not bother as there is unlikely to be much if any money in it.

Yep that's about right.

1 vote for the Aygo, thanks :)

Like Fox said though if the KA can be had new at that price the one above seems really overpriced so I should avoid that one as the profit on it will be lower.

Maybe I would be better paying for 24 hours access to Glass's and value them all!

This is exactly my forte, i'd have the Polo. But not for those prices.

What would you normally be willing to pay for that polo?

parkers value it at £6,100 (private good) with 10k miles.
