The Abit IP45-MAX shown above must be an early engineering sample pic as the PCB has been mentioned by Nathan that it will be "BLACK" for MAX series & BLUE for the PRO series & Vanilla/Orange for the Budget motherboards.

Just realised Computex starts tommorow lol, so will probally see lots of mothboard pics etc etc floating about.

I think I'll be going for the Abit IP45-MAX, going to post my overclocks etc & setup a new thread about it - I never normally post my own clocks about time I did.

I just left Gigabyte after 2.5 years, so there is only one answer :p

There are bound to be the odd cooler that doesn't fit with heatpipes, there always is.....i am sure Buff could tell you more when he is along.
I know you all rip em off anyway and stick jet turbines on there :D

Well i am not taking anything off and i am that much of an oc'r i am getting a Q9450 to go in it lol. J&W have a look in the main index of the motherboard section to see a thread on their extreme P45 board which i saw today and it looks a nice board much like yours and the DS5 Giga :).

Right what you need to do when you post an imageshack pic is this:

1) TICK "resize image?" = 640x480 (for message boards)
2) TICK "remove size/resolution bar from thumbnail?"

upon uploading it. . . .

3) Copy & paste the link where it states "Direct link to image"

see if that works.

NOTE: The board below is an engineering sample, the Abit IP45-MAX is going to be released with a "Black" PCB according to Nathan & other news sources.

Sorted now, looks a bit dodgy at the mo but have had enough already.

I just use Imageshack for quickness.

I've posted in the OcUK New Product Suggestions forum section about the Abit IP45-MAX anyway a few days ago, but I guess your the person who deals with various retailers?

I have to say it's good PR that a rep from a motherboard maunfacturer is now a member and hopefully a poster on these forums.

Hats off to ABit.

Now if only we could get reps from EVGA, ASUS, Gigabyte, DFI and the others on here.

Lmfao get a rep from Asus on here they can't be bothered with their own official forums so we got more chance of Gordon Brown being any good at his job then seeing a rep from Asus on here. Nathan it is good to see an official rep but i feel you might be alone with us for some time to come :).

recent abits have all been great for clearance around the CPU area but I admit to being slightly worried about that honking one on the NB.
I think that we are really going to need to get our grubby paws on it & see what works or not.
Then we can get an "official" thread going with HSF & RAM compatability info for people.

You are unlikeley to see other vendors joining for various reasons but as my background is the last 2.5 years of my life were spent at Gigabyte I will leave it at that :D

I will be building a PC soon and am being told Q6600 is better for me to learn how to overclock than a Q9300 or even a QX9770.......Do you all back that up?

Sounds like your in the same boat as me cpu choice wise.

Yeah the Q6600 has a higher multiplier (which means you get more cpu speed per FSB speed... which is always good) and a lower starting FSB (which means you can buy a 1333fsb motherboard and run it at stock, only overclocking the cpu)

The Q9300 starts off at 1333fsb (so you need to go higher, towards 1600FSB) and has a lower multiplier (less bang for your FSB). It is 45nm so its cooler, but it just doesnt clock as well.

The QX9770 has unlocked multiplier so you can do whatever you want and leave the FSB at stock... but thats cheating :D and besides it's already the fastest cpu out there, wheres the fun in souping in a Ferrari when you can soup up an old banger.

Great to see an Abit rep here... i'll give you a few weeks to settle in before I hit you with my moaning about my poor luck with AN8 mobo's
