Whats your job, and how much you take home monthly?

Well, it sounds like you're a bright guy and you've got a pretty good degree. Now all you need experience.

I now earn six figures, but my career has only taken off in the last four years; prior to that I was on £18k plus bonus of £4k.

As well as learning different languages, you have to get experience of different industries as well e.g. I've never done Investment Banking and as a result my CV doesn't even get looked at for those jobs, but I do know Legal, Media, Retail Banking and Insurance.

Corgi guy employed by a largish company lol £2.100 take home with no over time but pay in to a pension final salary/ share save scheme and union scheme! also have some private jobs for friends and family! which some months can be quite abit xtra! also 24 now!

I always find discussing what you earn a bit crass and it usually turns into willy waving.

In the last one we had I'm sure someone said something like they wouldn't get out of bed for less than £100,000.
He then went on to show total disregard that people could still be earning £10,000 a year.

I am a 14-19 NHS Healthcare Careers Support Officer here in Stoke.
In other words I look after the young uns that want to join the NHS.

man, I just love all these unemployed people with broadband access... nice to know my hard earned tax goes to good use. :(

harsh, but oh so true...

I just don't get why the high earners (relatively) who have posted in this thread are doing so. Have some dignity guys. It is really naff and you can only be doing it to show off.

So people that do well for themselves financially should hide in a cupboard?

Not at all i "do well for my self financially" but don't feel the need to tell a bunch of people on the internet what i earn. Particularly when many of them are starting out and don't earn very much.

Personally if I was a teenager and read some of the replies it might give me some inspiration to work harder at school or change my ideas of what career I wanted. Most kids don't understand what earning x amount per year really means anyway. Using actual figures can be more helpful - I just said I was in the 40% tax bracket, but living in London that doesn't account for much and it leaves it open to suggestion if I'm just in the bracket or not. It's more subtle - but people can than think... oh I can earn that much for that job? Cool, I'll look into it.... Maybe.

I'm impressed with the poster in the army earning over 30k, if I were a teenager that would certainly tempt me to join if I'm honest. It also shows that IT doesn't have a monopoly on silly wages any more as it did back in the mid/late 90s (where earning a packet was easy).
