Who digs Hummus?

Make your own and use natural yougurt and a table sppon of smooth peanut butter

So is that a 'its only fatty cos your mother bought some asda premade that they added lard to for fun' ?

I will make some of my own, just gotta have a look for some chickpeas that apparently dont cost the earth.

Dont know what the mother was looking at then, shes not a stinge with food either, its finest everything usually, or M&S.

Do you not use Tahini to make your Hummus?

You do indeed. However in the middle east/greece, they prepare tahini to eat by itself, adding olive oil and lemon juice and salt to it in the right quantities. Then you just dip your bread into that, or pour it over falafels.

Even the normally ridiculously expensive Waitrose sells Organic for 82p a can. Expensive, but oh-so tasty.

ill slap me mum around a bit tonight then and tell her to stop playing her silly woman mind games, and to buy me some chickpeas.

Ah, I didn't know that. I'm usually dipping bread into the jar of Tahini when making Hummus so I think I'll try your little recipe there.

Ta muchly!

I make it like this:

approx 1/2 cup tahini
roughly 3 gloves garlic, crushed
around teaspoon salt
probably 2 tablespoons olive oil
near on 1/4 cup lemon juice
perhaps 1 teaspoon parsley, finely chopped (optional)

Sorry for the approximations, but I do it by taste and texture rather than precise exact measurements. :)

This thread made me want some houmous. I bought this one:
