Hey guys,

Been using WinRAR for a few years now on XP since leaving Winzip, but now I'm on Vista x64 and I need some new software ;)

Mainly going to be using it for .rar and .zip and and right-click 'extract here' would be a welcome feature?

Any ideas? Free would be great, but I don't mind a few quid...

Cheers,

SW.

to install them, create a folder called 'Icons' in C:\Program Files\7zip\ then run either 32.reg or 64.reg depending whether or not you've got a 32 or 64bit OS :)

Do any of the free ones let you compress as RAR, or only uncompress RAR files?

I've tried the free ones before and I think WinRAR is sufficiently superior in terms of interface, explorer integration etc to warrant a purchase.

7-Zip can compress as 7z and many others. :)

According to the quote you just posted, it can only uncompress RAR files

@OP, whats wrong with WinRAR anyway? Its always been great for me, unlike Winzip which has gradually become more and more bloated over time.
