Both EQ and EQ2 have had diminishing subscriber numbers and have had for quite some time now. EQ has gone from having over half a million to less than 150,000 subscribers in less than 2 years. Sure it is still making them cash, but it's not good news. The only thing that will kill EQ2 will be SoE.
If WoW couldn't kill off EQ2, AoC won't either. AoC is chump change compared to Blizzards big hitter.
No, EQ2 will keep on trucking. Bear in mind EQ1 is 9 years old, has 14 expansions and still pulls in a hefty profit for SoE.
I fancy cracking out my old Swashie but I lost my game discs - anyone know where I could download the client (legally of course) or would the trial client work?
It's a similar story with EQ2. Though they initially had a positive response to the latest expansion, subscriber numbers are once again dropping again. AOC has made it a whole lot worse as a lot of people have cancelled en masse. That is why they have just offered everyone 60 days free, in an effort to get as many people back as they can before they get into AOC properly.
Just downloading the updates now (starting a 14 day trial)
Is there a server/world that is best to roll on? (if any!)
can't find runnyeye or slitpaw on my list!
No free subs here, but my paid subs expired early last month.
Was looking forward to some free play so I could finish trade skill levels on alts. It's not worth paying money to do it, that's for sure.
