Mine is it being off for most of the day, with test cards. Then the childrens stuff would start and we would be entertained by a man with his fingers inside cardboard mice and making squeeking noises. It wasn't all bad, but I never knew Bagpuss's real colour till much later in life. Black and white tv, no remote control and only three channels

I loved Bod, Camblewick Green and Trumpton. The Flumps was also entertaining as was Jackanory, Magpie and Grange Hill and who can forget Tiswas? Growing up in the Midlands, I got to see that from an early age, about 5 I think. Never really liked Gerry Anderson stuff. Battle of the Planets was good too.

Weird... as soon as I saw the thread title, I immediately thought of Bod and the Flumps :)

Other early tv viewing consisted of Banana Splits, Battle of the Planets, Jamie and the Magic Torch, and Chorlton and the Wheelies. I'm now going to cry.

The mupets the first time round... or mayby Chips or "motorbike chips" as i called it as i ran around the room in my spiderman pj's acting like i was riding a bike.

It was last week.

Sitting watching Dickie Davis in Black & White with my Grandad on a Saturday over 35 years ago.

I caught the tail end of the "Watch With Mother" era [The Herbs, Barnaby, Mary Mungo And Midge etc], but one of my earliest TV memories centred around the excitement of what was going to be on at midday on ITV before Rainbow. Itsy and Bitsy [what was the programme? Oh yes: Paper Play], Pipkins, Stepping Stones, and a programme that I have such faint memories of that I was never sure it was just a dream until the internet trivia factory came along: Oscar, a rather scary puppet show about a rabbit.

Bod never appealed to me. Alberto frog and his orchestra, on the other hand: "Mmmm...oooh... ummm... strawberry... *cue pink piece of card sliding down a drawing of a glass* :)

Strike it lucky was my favourite show as a kid and the earliest memory. I used to love the hot spot noises/lights I imagine.

Clangers, Bagpus, Fingermice and a few others I have no idea of what they were called, I certainly remember the test cards though.

lets pretend, think it was a bbc show, I can still remember the tune - lets pretend, lets pretend, la la la la, lets pretend... memories

I can probably trawl up vague memories from about 1979, which made me about 4 years old. There's stuff like the Incredible Hulk, which always scared me :o and Return of the Saint (must be the music). But it's not until 1980-81 that TV becomes a major thing in my life. And then you can start listing all the cartoons and hopelessly outdated stuff like wrestling and banger racing on World of Sport.

It makes me a little sad when I think back that far. Simpler times. :(

My oldest TV memory is G-Force and Oum le Dauphin Blanc. G-Force, I believe, was called Battle Of The Planets here (jap lookalike cartoon with Mark, Jason, Princess, Kiop and Tiny fighting rather girly looking villain called Zoltar). Oum le Dauphin Blanc was french cartoon about unsupervised kids and a dolphin called Oum. All that is closely followed by Adventures of David Balfour (around 1979/1980), which was BBC's take on Stevenson's Kidnapped. I only remember it because of fantastic opening score by Vladimir Cosma (which was then horribly butchered in eighties by some german munchkin gipsy band going by the name of Kelly Family, that's my memory of early primary school dances).

Incidentally, I also remember the first cinema movie I watched - Uchu kaijû Gamera - jap movie about flying turtle fighting some Godzillas. Bizarre times.

Probably Button Moon or Fraggle Rock, which were both awesome by the way. :D

Same! Brilliant stuff :D

Also seem to remember having Muzzy on tape, which was supposed to teach kids French or something at a young age. I remember it being quite good, but not learning too much!
