Well, my gfx card is finally giving in due to the fan being gay. I will try to fix it before buying a new one, but if i get a new one i would only be looking to spend around £100. So probably an 8800gt. I'm currently running an ati x1600xt so can probably do with an upgrade anyway...it only just hacks cod4 :p

Basically, i have limited knowledge of gfx card and want to get the best for my money around £100. Cheers.

is the 8800gt a good card? How much more would i need to spend to get something better i.e would it be worth an extra £50 for the next 'level' up?

8800gt

Ive got a 8800gt and it plays cod4 on highest settings at about 60+ fps, also plays cyrsis on high with no aa at about 30+ all at 1680 by 1050 res.

Ive your playing at 1920 x 1200 then gts would be better.

Better still wait a few weeks for next gen cards, at least then prices of 8 series cards should fall.

I'd be playing 1600x1200. How long is a few weeks though? Ideally i want it for my long summer break of which i will either be working or sleeping hence plenty of time to game :p

8800gt's should be around for a while longer, still some old g80 320/640 mb gts floating about, and they were replaced months and months ago.
