Is 90KGs a lot to move on the Seated Leg Curl Machine?

whats the rest of your leg routine?

I wouldn't because i dont like isolation exercises, especially on machines :p

nowt wrong with it, maybe you work more and can get bigger overall gains with squats and any other compound exercises. but sometimes you struggle with a certain weight and increasing strength in one place can help you push up a weight in another, once you can do that suddenly your body starts to build muscle again.

A little isolation here and there is very worthwhile IMHO, not least because doing the same stuff every week for years is boring, but also because strength in certain places, especially legs makes it much easier to do other exercises.

As to the weight, it would look very impressive if it was me doing it, but then i've got two totally knackered knee's that would probably shatter and leave me with two stumps, hence it looking impressive :p

Seriously though, i couldn't do that single leg, but with both i would think I could, albeit with severe, severe pain.

Its a sub section of a car forum.

LOLZ you explained it here.

They are most likely just a skinny bunch of chavs who just bicep curl and chest press all day. :p

No offense to any of the vauxhall owners here though :cool:

Also, Im not really sure what the use of leg curls are. If you squat and SLDL there is no need for mammoth amounts of machinery.

tbh some of the guys are decent blokes and are not Chavs in the slightest. They also have years of gym time under their belt which is why I was so confused.

Anyway no Vauxhall bashing ;)

Some leg extension machines only go up to a 100k. I assume you mean 100k front and back? For the big squatters I would imagine it would be gentle relaxation- but add a little perspective, I can only do about 80k at the moment and that is because I am recovering from a serious leg injury. I wouldn't knock your progress though :)

Leg curls aren't particularly great anyway IMO. Though saying that 90kg isn't an awful lot really.

at my current gym there is a standing single leg hammer strength leg curl machine, bloody fantastic imo!
feel the hams working so much more than RDLs :D

I suppose if they are single leg and standing it's more natural - I just find most of the machines don't have good pivot points really.

the one where you use both legs and lay on your belly, i would be inclined to agree with you, not a comfortable machine at all!

not wanting to be too offensive or anything, but i really cannot see why people who goto the gym do not know the difference between an extension and a curl :/

Habit with me I'm afraid.
How about this one then: I had a guy who had injured his shoulder come up to me and ask what the area was called that was giving him so much pain. He'd been body-building for over 12 years and he didn't know his deltoid was actually called a deltoid. He was pro standard.

Is 117kg much for seated leg press or w/e it is called?

The answer to that depends on many many things:
How long you have been training;
How heavy you are;

Also, you have to consider something else, does the amount you are lifting mean anything?
If you are a powerlifter then it means bugger all.
If you are looking to gain mass then it means bugger all.

All that matters is intensity. if it intense enough? if yes, thats all that matters :D
